Hi! In this video I explain how I transformed my uneven concrete stairs with wood decking and 2x4s to prepare for a deck I will be building shortly.

I'm going to do this, plus the attach tiny patio (so tiny that one chair would block the doorway). Very excited, your video was a very helpful guide

The fact that these stairs are not uniformly below the doors are driving me crazy

Did the concrete sweat and make the wood in contact with it rot?

I have to do the same exact thing to mone, thanks bud.

That slope away from the house is by design. It helps direct rain away from the house. You sould have kept some slope to allow for this. In addition, if you live in a freezing area, fill those holes with a quality exterior sealant. To keep water out and causing cracks at the areas around the holes.

Hi David, thanks for the input! I agree some slant is preferred but the concrete was quite slanted that it was not even safe.

its very hard to put the screws in to concrete , I used concrete nails and they work much faster
@renoforless2 ай бұрын
Nice, that's a good option as well

Looks great! What size of masonry bit and what kind of screws did you use ?
@renoforless4 ай бұрын
Thanks! I used 1/4" x 4" tapcon screws. I believe I used 3/16 bit.

what if the concrete is all crumbly underneath
@renoforless2 ай бұрын
Hey, I wouldn't attempt using this method if the concrete is crumbling as it won't last and be unsafe.

Any issues at all with moisture or mold? Nice job btw!!!
@renoforless Жыл бұрын
Thanks! No issue with moisture or mold because I used pressure treated lumber.
@celticstephenhill11 ай бұрын
@@renoforlessdid you seal your cuts or just leave the wood exposed? If it's exposed, modern treated lumber will only get 10-20 years before it starts turning into dust. They barely penetrate 1/8" nowadays (but they'll say it's a 1/4" which is obviously BS when you look at most cross cuts).

@@celticstephenhill I put water resistant oil over all of it make it last longer

What if your steps underneath are cracked and chipping some could I still use this technique?
