I want to do this as well for my stairs. I’m glad I found your video, very helpful. We have what I believe is golden oak. I would like to make them more of a Smokey grey look, do you think that’s possible? Thank you in advance.
@renoforless11 күн бұрын
It may be possible. Make sure to sand down any previous stain and apply the right stain that matches the color you're going for. Make sure to test a small area first and let it dry to see if you like it before doing all the stairs.

Each hole is a bit different because the ground wasn't leveled. However, I would recommend going about 4-6 inches deep.

Hey, I wouldn't attempt using this method if the concrete is crumbling as it won't last and be unsafe.

Hey watching this video because I’m interested in just doing it myself. What did you apply on the floor after removing the parquet flooring before applying the new floor?

Did you manage to do it all in one cut or did you have to do more?
@renoforlessАй бұрын
The stairs was done all in one cut (cut a little extra so you can trim afterwards). The landing above the stairs has it's own piece.
@paulanthony5274Ай бұрын
@@renoforless I suppose the best place to cut it as I'm going to have to is just under the lip where you can't see it. You know the rounded part at the tip of the stair. I was just looking for help on how to cut it.
@renoforlessАй бұрын
@@paulanthony5274 Yes, that's correct. best to cut it right under the bullnose (rounded part) of the landing.

What finish do you recommend if you wanted to keep the natural color after you sanded it? I did this to my stairs and want to keep the light tone just protect it with a finish but keep the color.
@renoforless3 ай бұрын
The best option I could think of is using a water based polyurethane instead of an oil based one. Oiled based polyurethane tends to yellow a lot more than the water based ones.

I don't know the brand being used but many vinyl laminate plank manufacturers warn to not use underlayment. They have a built on rubber underlayment pad on the planks. Using your own in addition to this will not only make the process. Ore frustrating but also void the warranty. Check with your brand/manufacturer. I of course do not care what people do. Just sharing.

The colorful soft pad not being perfectly cut - is that something that's noticeable once the carpet is laying on top?
@dogger21867 ай бұрын
Bro, jsut a comment. You are using the sliding miter saw backwards...look at the direction the blade is spinning. Just sore the top as you drag it back and plundge into the wood and push forward. You cuts will be clean and more accurate as you are also pushing the stock inot the fence....
