It’s a rare thing to see anyone eat their food on TBBT. Everyone just moves their fork around the plate.
@artistjohАй бұрын
I always sympathized with Bea Arthur, who as "Dorothy" had to eat cheesecake in a majority of episodes, yet in real life hated the taste of cheesecake. But like a trooper, she wolfed it down and gave the appearance of loving it. I guess TBBT avoids that issue. Plus it should be noted that food on set is usually cold and yucky by the time the actors are supposed to eat it, so there is plenty of reason to just move it around with a fork if at all possible.

penny eats her food all the time -
@marilynsobel7414Ай бұрын
I understand that at the beginning of TBBT the actors did eat the food, but naturally if a scene repeats itself over and over they will gain some weight (or constantly use the spit bucket). So it makes sense to just move it around. Also, it takes skill to speak while eating and not show the food in your mouth.

I was glad they let Amy and Sheldon grow, yes they are insanely smart whatever, but they began to feel more human and likable having that and everything else they learned from their friends.

i find it questionable that you describe the way that Amy changed in behavior over the the series as "growth" , also "likeable", turning from a smart woman into one that is continuisly thinking about coitus and simping for Penny.

Amy’s character really started out being even more insufferable than Sheldon. The writers really did a total transformation of her in just a few episodes. This seems to be a relatively rare talent for television writers.
@starchanneljoseph9 ай бұрын
Yeah, especially since it happened so naturally and you can’t really pinpoint the exact she changed, she slowly progressed into this more respectable sociable human being
@darkmask59338 ай бұрын
I wouldn't say she was more insufferable, but at that time we had, as an audience, become attached to Sheldon so we were prone to taking her side even if they were equally annoying. Case in point, Sheldon badmouths other people's science fields all the time (remember Burt from Geology?), but we're supposed to take his side here because Amy did the same thing to him.

Amy Farrah Fowler: Absolutely not. My colleagues and I are mapping the neurological substrates that subserve global information processing, which is required for all cognitive reasoning, including scientific inquiry, making my research ipso facto prior in the ordo cognoscendi. That means it's better than his research, and by extension, of course, yours.

Do you know why neurobiology is a field? Because someone had a theory of how humans worked. I mean, seriously, part of Amy's job was stimulating parts of a monkey's brain to make it cry... Exactly what are the real world applications of that?
@henrypeters529110 ай бұрын
@@jackwells8107 I agree with your argument but your example actually hurts you. She tests monkey brains so that we know how similar parts of human brains work. So for example if there is a tumor or damage to the amygdala, we know how to fix it.

She's not wrong. Sheldon's field of study is the least important and practical of everyone at that table.
@markarmage377610 ай бұрын
Actually, no. You might think so because you haven't seen the impact of such work yet. But that same field laid the foundation for the modern world you live in today. Computers, electricity, radio, satellite communications. If you remove all neurological biology work and it's achievement from the world, it wouldn't change that much. If you remove all theoretical physics work from the world, the civilized world would cease to exist. Sheldon's work is not the least important, it's the most important and the most challenging. It's just that the rate of success is so small that people think it's not practical. Everything you eat, everything you use in your life today, literally everything is the result of theoretical physics research. Dirac might be an unknown name to you, but his research is crucial in the formation of the transistor, aka the foundation of computer chips, aka your smartphones. Go learn some real math.
@kepo36410 ай бұрын
Actually neurobiology struggles to find evidence. In fact brain is still one of the biggest mystery because no consensus has ever been made. Just so u know, the chemical imbalance theory of depression has just recently been refuted. (Again, sheldon is right LOL). The biggest research of alzheimer has been proven doctored. Not to mention the functions of each brain region is still highly fuzzy

@JKumar1007 ай бұрын
@@markarmage3776 I don't need theoretical physics to know how my pen works. Their both equally important, but neurobiology is more required because it's more relatable and practical to today's world. You're logic is flawed in that you aren't considering what neuroscience has achieved in today's world. You can't solve mental illnesses with theoretical physics, but you can with neurobiology.

@@e.m.rivera8948 this is one of those shows that's painful to watch and yet oddly alluring in its nonsense. Look at any of these scenes set in the canteen - the people in the background just repeat the same actions over and over, and take absolutely no notice of the table of main characters regardless of how raucous they get. It's like the cast are hateful, maladjusted player characters forced together because the plot requires it, surrounded by oblivious NPCs who wouldn't bat an eyelid even if Leonard or Sheldon stood up and shot each other It's like live action Family Guy - the longer the show goes on, the more ridiculous it gets and the characters feel less and less like actual Humans and more like caricatures squashed together, and nobody ever points out the root issues of the main cast, it's always superfluous gripe-of-the-day stuff. Bernadette is a great example of this - her monstrousness is played for laughs but in any realistic scenario she'd have been given the boot long before she married Howard. In fact, Howard himself is the same - he's just Quagmire made flesh. Truly, this is one of the most bizarre yet fascinating shows I've ever encountered
