Nice work! Some words based on my own experience. The aluminium stripes edges should be as flat as possible to avoid temp peaks. Also, it is not that bad that the whole wall gets heated as it will return this heat back to the inside when the electricity is off (obviously depending on the thermal inertia) Putting a normal paint over the carbon is not a good idea (please try) as it will get destroyed although it can be avoided with a better temp behavior paint. You are getting too high temps. I know it is just for testing but 50C-60C would be ok. Higher values would be dangerous for the touch. Finally, if you are talking about heating a wall it is because you want to heat a space and this needs way more heating surface which, in my case, has been an non achievable challenge. Many problems appear like undesired peaks. Do you have a thermal camera? It would be extremely cool to see this “with colors”. Thank you very much buddy!

Hello. Yes you can over paint the heater with some temperature paint. You can control the heater with the power you add to heater. The geater work on IR waves and I need to say that in my lab was warm on night only with this heater. It was not hot but nice warm in the room. If you paint the heater on the midle wall in the hous,.... the wall can act like heater. In my lab was 25 deg C,..... and the wall was 43 deg C after 1 hour later when I disconnect the power.

Welcome back mate and congratulations with your new addition to family . Is there any reason you can’t stick 2 prices of aluminium foil to a wall with a 30mm gap between them that has the conductive ink painted there creating the circuit . I think it should work !
@HiltonBenchley
@HiltonBenchley 2 жыл бұрын
The glue might not be able to withstand the temperatures. Aluminium foil tears very easily. It appears that aluminium tape is not too expensive.

@cayrex

You set the temperature with some temperature controler. More power you add to the heater higher will be the temperature. I use some temperature controler in one of my other project. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gaqqgM6V2tWXe5s.html

I think this is an amazing idea and have just checked your website. Can you advise on the switch you created for the lights on your wall, as that's also something I would like to investigate. What do you consider the the best size for heaters using your conductive ink? and can you just paint over it? or do you need a particular paint. I think it's important the material that it is paint on as that can have a massive effect on the reflected heat and stored energy/ heat in the wall, panel, brick etc. Any advice??? I am wanting to create low cost energy panels (during this energy crisis) to help heat homes or individual rooms economically. There are heater panels on the market already that I believe are similarly constructed and designed, however I am looking for a suitable alternative that can operate on 20-40v and produce a reasonable level of heat cost effectively. Looking forward to your reply and contact, thanks Gaz

Hi! To make some capacitive switch you need Touch Sensor. The size is depending on the power what you will use. The panel with the size of 50 cm x 100 cm works really well on 48V. Yes you can paint over the heater,... is better to use some paint which have good temperature tolerance. Because some cheap basic paint can crack a little bit because of the temperature. Some wall which is painted can act like heat storage as well.

@@cayrex Thanks and really appreciated. Where are you located and do you sell/ manufacture this yourself? So the 50cm x 100cm, I am getting a conversion of 48v/DC/4amps/196Watts does that sound about right? Are hooking directly or via a thermostat control system and your average temperature. Thanks again!

@@cayrex Thx for your answer. I did some own tests now with 12 micron 99% synthetic graphite powder and waterglass. Very good results. For my 25x55cm test patch I recieved 5 Ohms of resistance. With 24V and 4 A it heated up to 60-65°C. But the heat was not evenly on my patch. Some spots were hotter than otrhers. I guess this is due to different thickness of the paint. My next test will be with 4 microns graphite powder (99,5%) and I hope to get even better resistance with the finer powder. I plan this kind of painted heating for my 8m2 guest bathroom instead of connecting this room with the gas heating and putting a water-radiator in that room. As this room is not frequently used, I guess the carbon heating solution would be very effective.

@gazsto6733
@gazsto6733 Жыл бұрын
@@fw_uke_ha Did it work? was the room adequately heated? I think that's a brilliant idea and great solution to heating a room that's infrequently in use. Are you mixing it with just water? and was the 4 microns graphite powder better giving you a lower resistance. Robert Murray always states you can connect direct to 240v with a controlled circuit, however 24-40v is usually adequate for the heating of the carbon ink/ paint solution.
