I had no clue that Mario 64 on the switch patched out BLJs, but I find it legitimately funny that they’re in Lego Mario, but you can’t actually do one in the newest port of the game.

Apparently the N64 is very easy to region unlock. There's just a plastic gate that you can just unscrew and remove from your system. You can just buy a new gate that lets you play any region.

I like L-Cancel reduced lag but after like a week it stops mattering because then your rate of hitting them goes up to like at worst 80% and at best 95%, i don't think i've missed many L-Cancel it's just a bit of a weird barrier to entry, i'd rather just use Auto L-Cancel but it doesn't matter a huge amount, it's more of a nitpick tbh

8:30 I'd rather just have arieals with low landing lag than L canceling. In a heart beat I'd replace L canceling for that mechanic in rivals that let's you fast fall out of attacks in hit

When N64 emulation gets closer and closer to cycle accuracy (which recently got a big improvement on Ares and most likely coming to Simple64 soon) then trying to track down a working N64 with controller and cartridge won't be important. Next task is solving lag but this is where Raphnet comes in as they made an N64 controller adapter to USB and these N64 adapters have a plugin for emulators to get direct access from the controller so the emulator reads 100% accurate signals of the entire controller so it's console accurate including memory cards, rumble packs and Pokemon addons, also gives the option to get as low as 1ms input latency with Raphnets Adapter Management Software.

Funny thing about the 3D All Stars version of 64 is, if you have the expansion pack plan for Switch Online, you can literally play the unpatched BLJ version of 64 in its entirety lol

I hate L cancelling because it's pressing buttons purely for the sake of pressing buttons. Unlike things like wave-dashing, wave-landing, moon walking, B reversing, shield dropping, fox-trotting, dash-grabbing, pivot-grabbing, and probably even more things i'm forgetting - it's something that could happen 100% automatically and it would only ever help you. On top of that, it's easier than all of those things - so now you're left with a mechanic where you just have to press the L button every time you land... just because the other person is doing it and if you don't you're at a disadvantage. It doesn't take time to learn or improve at, it's just an incredibly shallow mechanic that adds more stress onto your hands and controller just for the sake of doing it. The only reason most Melee players like it is because it technically makes the game harder, which means the gap between them and someone bad is bigger, which makes them feel like their invested time into the game has paid off a little more. I'm 100% for mechanical depth, which is why I love Melee and PM, but doing it in a way where it doesn't actually take mechanical skill is just lame for everyone. Even the people who say they like it would like the game just as much if it happened automatically, and the people who don't like it would of course also win in that scenario.
