Yeah, most copyright lawyers are pieces of shit. The good news is that people like me download, pirate, and steal things, even though I can buy them anyway, just to smite them and their laws. I'll buy the occasional music album or DVD/Blu-ray if the artists are good enough. I refuse to pay a nickle for anything unless it's one of my favourite things. And, in the end, when the lawyers are in bed trying to sleep, most of them know they are immoral pieces of shit that don't matter in the bigger picture.

Tony Bjornson I can see your position. I also DL a few torrents here and there, but I try to make sure when I have the money I support whatever Writer, Developer, Producer I thoroughly enjoyed. There are a bunch of assholes in the entertainment business, but I wave my hand at them and usually find a way to donate directly to the actual creator. To the band for music, studio for video games, and Movies and TV shows just get my DVD purchase (they have a weird ass process for finding a way to "donate" to Writers/Directors and I hate dealing with it).

I like to rent CDs from the Library, and then rip them onto iTunes. I've probably gotten about 30 albums onto my iTunes that way, including Death Magnetic (Metallica), Aftershock (Motorhead), all of my Black Sabbath (about five albums, including Reunion), and many more.

Tim Minchin That's a shame about the copyright problems. I know the idea behind those laws is meant to protect people from working hard and not getting reasonably compensated for it, but in my opinion there's gotta be a better way. Thanks for sharing your work with those of us who have given too much to the world to afford a ticket to see you perform in person. 6:20 Hi, sorry, Tim here, so i had a bit of a copyright problem with this bit, see whereas usually i avoid musical parodies as a matter of principal preferring instead to keep my work as original as possible, i every now and then quote a well known, popular song within one of my own less popular works, in this case it was the song 'I will always love you' by Dolly Parton who, might surprise you to learn, I consider one of the greatest songwriters of her generation. Seems like a bit of a dumb end to my breasticular anthem, but what i did, right, was replace the word 'you' right, with the word 'boobs' right, it was fucking incredible and copyright lawyers are fucking dicks.

Even if he does not agree with them, he has to have them. People can't just claim his work is theirs, or else it will cause huge legal disputes. The problem is with copyright, as important as it is, it also shits on the consumers. The system needs to be adjusted, however Tim cannot personally do this himself.

possibly because you're searching for the wrong song. it's called cont. - first result for 'tim minchin cont.' got me a full recording from one of his live shows. also, copyright lawyers are as necessary as they are annoying. if he didn't have at least some copyright protection, nothing would stop people stealing his content or making money from his work. i'm sure he's all for the part of copyright law that stops people from taking content that doesn't belong to them and sharing it (for profit), it's the part that says 'you can't upload a ten second modified cover of this song onto youtube without paying royalties' that sucks.

He said 'copyright lawyers are fucking dicks' wich is correct because they create problems where none are. But as an artist you need copyrights, otherwise you can't earn money with your work. And money is important for living because you buy things with it and...yeah... Just like everywhere else you have your stupid people, and the people that just sit back and shake their heads at the stupid ones. Though in America, there is an abundance of stupidity by the majority of our population. When the governing powers start favoring low IQ, and stupidity, it's bound to grow into a pandemic.
