Great video! The throwing out parts is so real, at least in mind if one's not able to afford all of it. I bet you had tons of fun with all those builds. Just building is fun enough to justify them... Experienced that with pedals, luckily couldn't afford it with amps! Maybe that psychedelic humbucker reverse headstock could sport a reverse banana/sharp headstock, like charvel tellys! Weird but... there's something there. Someone mentioned power amps. Gotta wonder what all you got. You must have vht 2150 (actually just saw it behind), it's just a must have for all the 80's preamps. But I've always wondered how much it differs from 2/90/2, another vht kt88, and even further how that compares to 2/50/2, an el34 one. Don't know which one was below 2150 there. Kt88 is pretty rare in amps, but all the european/marshall types have el34.

I learned so much building those guitars.. and a few preamps. Its all in the journey! I am still trying to get used to the reverse headstock. That's a great question about power amps. I do not have a 2/90/2 but do have a 2/50/2 (and a 2100 Classic). I was really inspired by Michael Nielsen's "One preamp Four Power amps" video. I think there might be a VHT power amp shootout in the future. ;)

No comments yet? That's an awesome collection of DIY axes! You should do more videos of your gear (Although, together with Nielsen you two could cost a lot of dough to some people... especially rack gear nostalgics)

Great videos! Need to definitely see a power amp comparison as I am waiting to get a Marshall 9200!

I am rebuilding the new rack currently but a power amp comparison is in the future. We need to know!

Any stumbling blocks you’ve had to figure out how to overcome? I was gifted a loaded Strat clone body, so I’m looking for tips on avoiding pitfalls.

The main thing is to see if the clone body was made to Fender specs. I changed the neck on an old Harmony strat for a buddy and while the neck heel fit the body, the hole pattern was off on the mounting screws. I had to use a drill press to correct the screw alignment.

Some people buy a guitar and practice, practice, practice. Some people just keep buying equipment and bang away on basic power chords and half-baked pentatonics. To each his own - do what makes you happy.
