you have always been my favourite emacs user online. whenever I see your emacs setup and your speed and efficiency with it with a relatively minimal setup, I always get inspired, compared to many other setups where I feel like it's filled with soooo much extra stuff that can be considered fun and good to have but not essential. I hope you can do another emacs config video soon and go deeper into your config
@tonchozhelev3 ай бұрын
I'm mainly a NeoVim user, but I've given Emacs a try many times, but every time I end up with this huge complicated config which really annoys me, and also breaks easily. Lately I've noticed that my NeoVim config has ballooned in much the same way, and it just doesn't quite work in some cases, and this annoys me to no end, especially all the LSP stuff tends to add a lot of bloat and tends to be easily breakable (although that largely depends on the language you are setting up the LSP for). Anyway, that pushed me to try Emacs again, which lead me to this video, but what I realized is, it isn't Vim's fault or Emac's fault that things end up this way, it's the whole "if I add this thing I'd be so much more productive" mentality...

For beginners it's not really recommended to disable the menu (or even the toolbar probably), because that's a good way to start exploring Emacs' features. For example the font configuration can be found in the menu too these days, when the latest stable Emacs version is 29.
