That would be fantastic, however unlikely. Until we figure out a way to test an aircraft pilot when we deboards a plane if he is actively under the influence of weed, they won't pull it off the panel. That's why alcohol is policed so loosely, because they can test you on the spot to see if you're under the influence. Same can't be said about THC or other drugs. But, saliva testing is a much better improvement over urine.

Mandate Breath testing is the right solution, instant results. 4 - 6hr window. Smoke at night and not be under the influence at 6 am. Legal substance, schedule 3, can not be denied on off duty times as long as the effects are NOT active on, ON DUTY Time!.

Don't forget about merchant mariners! Some of us are off for months at a time, but STILL can't enjoy the benefits of cannabis on our off time without risking our career. Its completely absurd.

An alarming amount of drivers that are failing urine tests for cannabis are just leaving the industry causing supply chain disruptions and growing costs. This is because the positive test results stay in their record via DAC or the clearing house for years. And then they have to go through the return to duty process which includes a SAP program, being treated like a heroin addict that costs thousands of dollars. It's about time they fix this problem that has cost many people their jobs, while having negative economic results for the country. CDL holders should be able to partake in cannabis, legally when off duty at home. Time and time again in so many scenarios and and to so many Americans it is proven that the most dangerous thing about Marijuana are Marijuana laws. Not the plant itself, and more so than the effects it has on a person.

Labs are telling me its the reagent problem, would love to minimize my direct observations. Quick question on another topic. I was informed, that the DOT/SAMHSA standard for needing at least 100 ng/ml of Amphetamine for a positive Methamphetamine test had been changed Feb 1, 2024, where the amphetamine is no longer needed to verify a positive Methamphetamine test. I'm having trouble objectively locating this change. Any information on changes there?

With the mouth swab test they can detect drugs as far back as 48 hours. But the test can also detect drugs in even a shorter time span within a couple of hours. Some sources claim 30 mins. It's all in how they want to test it. With Marijuana rescheduling, they can just test for Marijuana via mouth swab and just test for 8-12 hours of last use to determine they have any intoxicating effects.

A year! That sucks, I was hoping it would in place by this summer. I'm so sick of peeing a cup at random, it's such a waste of time. I just hope the FAA approves it. The testing policy in place causes addicts to turn to alcohol to have their fun, or calm their nerves. Seen 5 people in my field die from alcoholism in the past 8 years. It ain't right

Looks like you would have to only smoke on one off your days off so by the time you go back to work you should pass the swap test. If you have weekends off you can either smoke Friday night or mid Saturday like the doc said the swap can detect the THC after a few days of smoking we just need to find out what exactly do them by a few days?

It's left up to the companies to decide which they want to do. But in MY opinion, it'll likely be done by everyone. Swab tests are much cheaper and easier for them to do.

DOT physical urine sample is not testing for drugs unless you are ALSO there for a drug screen. I get my DOT Physical done independent from my company. So I don't get a urinalysis when I get my physical. They are just testing for blood sugar, etc... Unless he says something about it in this video I missed.

Yeah weed isnt the drug for you if you are actually paranoid enough to believe that. This is about DOT drivers. We are held to a higher standard than civilian drivers. You guys can do all the drinking and drugging you want in your free time, unlike DOT drivers. Even getting a DWI wont make Cubical Carl, White Collar Chris or even Cash Register Karen loose their non driving job lol They can all ride a bike or pay Uber to go to work and still do their non driving job. Doesnt work that way for us. We dont get the freedom to do what we want in our free time - well, at least I dont. And i love driving and shouldn't have to find a different job just because they dont test randomly. Its 2024 and this is America for Fux sake!!!

They are actually looking into blood testing for that. I believe New Jersey is working on getting it put into place. Maybe it was New York, I'm not sure. Either way, they are having a hard time catching the people smoking and flying, because they don't have a breathalyzer to go off.

@@tenbearsreeftank5705 Wouldn't matter, the Saliva test can go back up to 72 hours. So if I smoked a fat joint last night, got stoned out of my mind in the comfort of my own home, and then drove to a local diner for breakfast the next day, I'd still fail the test and be arrested for a DUI.
