Hey, I'm the girl who confronted the fake violinist! I'm a super non-confrontational person and I don't get angry easily, but seeing that guy made me feel like I had to say something as a violinist. And the funniest thing is, I actually have severe social anxiety disorder, but somehow I had the guts to talk to that guy (though I definitely wouldn't have been able to without my mom there LOL)

I think it's scummy to do it in real life, but on film and TV it's not "fake artistry" - it's acting. The person who actually played the piece will have been paid and known what it was going to be used for (they may also be paid to advise the actor and/or act as a body double for some scenes). Plus the audience knows that some of what they're seeing isn't real so it's on them if they assume the actor can really play like that, whereas if you see someone performing on the street it's reasonable to assume they actually are playing.

When I was looking for your suggestion of the Opus Clavicembalsticum I found another piece , Le Preux , Op. 17 by Charles-Valentin Alkan who not only is fondly described as an octopus but described his own composition as “ playable only by me and Franz Liszt” . Liszt described the Alkan composition as “ impossible to play “ . I watched a video by ‘Erolon ‘ of ‘Le Preux’ which was an animated keyboard and a pianola-type roll scrolling down completely synced to the keys played on the keyboard . There must be a proper name or app for what I was watching but it gave another angle to the piece and a change from reading the sheet music .

Medtner is an incredible composer, one of the greatest, but so piano-centric. It's understandable that non-pianists haven't heard of him or wouldn't vibe with his music as much. But well worth the effort. Everything firmly grounded in tonality and tight formal structure, but nevertheless with a unique approach and voice. I agree with whoever recommended the violin/piano sonatas as a first taste. His quintet is accessible too.

everytime you guys say, "remember to go to practice after this video!!", I feel like I cannot disappoint you both and go back to studying, (not playing an instrument atm so that's practice for me) \(゚ー゚\)

An idea that's not super related to this video but kinda inspired by the amazing solo Brett did on the fan-composing one: Get a bag with different emoji/emotions/sceneries, draw one out, IMPROVISE on the spot something that can reflect that emotion/scene! Edit: Even tho you guys said that you are not good at improvisation, I'm always impressed by what you created, so please do more!!

Medtner and Scriabin are pretty cool in their own particular ways.. There are three violin+piano sonatas by Nikolaj Medtner, the first one is very singing, lovely.. and so are his "Two Canzonas with Dances" for violin and piano, - both have very good videos on KZfaq.

Yo, I'm the guy that wrote the practice and taking care of myself thing. I'm at like 300+ minutes now, which is nowhere close to my goal which is about 35+ hours including awards of 30 min each (but I'll force myself to 40 hours for ling ling), I even composed a short piece while practising yesterday and uploading yesterday (although it looks edgy and has a edgy name, don't mind. it... ... and my piano is out of tune.) Just, thank you for the support, especially in the Reddit. Because of their reaction, I've just got the drive and motivation to practice for 80 hours. And I'm also very proud of the girl who confronted the fake violinist! Very nice! Very confident and brave of that woman!
