What a find! I know a lot about the career of Bea Arthur; still, I never knew she did this great old song--never mind did it on television. Thanks so much for the posting,Operara .

I'm over a decade late with this, but thanks for posting. It's an entertaining performance, and it looks like she had fun doing it. I don't know if the song was supposed to be sung or spoken, but it sounded like she did more of the latter. I'm not a good judge of anything relating to theater, but I think it worked for her. She really knew how to own a stage.

Ironically, it’s from the musical WONDERFUL TOWN which opened in 1953 starring Rosalind Russell. Russell got great reviews and not only she but the musical received Tony Awards. She played a year, Carol Channing replaced and then toured. In 1956 Russel opened as AUNTIE MAME. Ten years later and Beatrice Arthur has a ‘bosom buddie’ in Angela Lansbury.

This is great! Y'all should also check out a Roz Russell version from 1950. Mad choreography, she must have had bruises from shoulder to ankle

The Boston Pops, NOT the Boston Symphony (essentially the Symphony minus the first-chair players).

Michelle Joynes I'm late with this comment, but it sounds like she says Congo, instead of Conga. And in the first line of the song, the USA part sounds off. But she didn't let it stop her. I enjoyed the performance.
