Callie and Carter are conjoined twins and best friends. They are normal kids who love video games, makeup, and cupcakes. Their peers sometimes tease the girls by calling them a "spider". Callie and Carter's family wants others to know that they are just typical kids in a unique situation.

Everybody needs to watch these interviews. Carter and Callie are just like all the other kids out there who love lipstick, Taco Bell and aquariums. They have dreams, fears, interests, etcetera. They’re just kids, who happen to be conjoined twins. @@brian8902 It's not derogatory though, they're right. It's shameful, but our society does often treat people with disabilities like a hush hush topic that should not be mentioned. That's just true. And OP implied that's not right. Which it isn't. And please don't start with "disabled" is a derogatory term, not a single person I know with a disability has anything other than an eye roll for "differently abled". Not a single fat person wants to be called "heavier person" or whatever the term is now. Changing the term isn't what makes it better but actually treating people better is important.

@@annnee6818 I have always seen my disability as just that- a dis ability. It is what makes it harder for me to live life like a neurotypical person would, therefore to me it is a disability. I think if a person prefers to say difference, or just say the name, or disability- whatever they want to call it, that’s their choice and how they view their experience in life.

Abby and Brittany Hansel ( conjoined twins) are teachers now. They are REALLY good and the kids love them. These two are Cutie Pies. My dad, a Pediatric surgeon of forty years, discussed conjoined twins to me when I was a kid. I had a lot of questions. He has had a few difficult cases where he was head of the final team. When separation is considered it takes SEVERAL months of planning , possibly much longer. Consultations , meeting, discussions as well as practice runs are done until the final team of surgeons plus anyone else who needs to contribute in OR work in concert like a symphony when the time comes. Specialists are flown in from all over TO be that team. There is always a back up plan. Just an incredible process. It all depends on how they are conjoined. These two are doing great! Intelligent, healthy and best of all THEY ARE BEST FRIENDS!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

They possess only one urinary bladder, only one "bottom," but separate lungs, separate hearts, separate spinal columns, separate minds, thoughts, & pedsonalities. However, their parents have chosen _NOT_ to risk a separation surgery, as they have done SO VERY WELL as conjoined twins! (Thought you'd appreciate the clarification.)

@Violetta Denisova I study Polycephaly in animals. Recently at the lab I work at we have found that this is a genetic adaptation for all animals, instead of just being random fusion of embryos. So in reptiles that have the genetic trait and proper nutrient consumption, they will give birth to a dicephaly offspring. Which can benefit from neural symbiosis, better cell dispersion, and better regenerative processes. While I cannot speak to these adaptations in humans, I see some signs of these adaptations in Callie and Carter. They only disperse hearing into 1 ear per twin because its more advantageous. If you watch Callie when she moves her legs, Carter will tick (most likely because Callie has main control of dispersion through the CNS). Also I don’t doubt they have really good muscle development compared to most people. So I dont think anyone belongs in a zoo, they are an attempt of natural human genetics to evolve and move forward.

I kinda, agree. It's probably not wise to seperate them now. It's their body- so they should make that decision for themselves when they are older and can properly comprehend the risks. The bladder part is a bit dodgey; but i've seen two girls separated and were similarly conjoined. Things did work out well for them in the end. But considering it's such a huge life change, its probably a good idea to let the twins decide when they're older.

I think they are perfect just the way they are. I just wanted to chime in in what you said. Many times, and as much as we would like to give each individual the ability to make their own choices, that is just not feasible. Certain medical issues require parents to make those difficult decisions for their children. In hearing loss degrees that could benefit from cochlear implants, the auditory nerve and brain areas that process sound atrophy without stimulation, so if you get implanted in your later tweens or young adulthood, you will likely not be able to process/understand speech through listening. For conjoined twins, the recommendation is surgery before age 1: tissues need to be extended and grown, graffs prepared, bones grown, etc.; growth rhythms, healing rhythms, brain plasticity, those are all time-framed issues. If they were to decide to have surgery today, the consequences would be brutal compared to when they were born. I think they are lovely, amazing girls who will drive their parents nuts :)

Love to all of you, nice family! Maren PS Did you ever thought about sign language for the twins? Might be easier for their communication if they are partly deaf. I am amazed how good they speak even if they are partly deaf. As I know from my sister that spoken language develops even better when deaf or less able to hear people learn first sign language. Because they will be able to express themselves more fully and after understanding the grammar of sign language they will be able to express even better in spoken words. Just give it a try ❤

I have wanted a lipstick tattoo since last year and now, after this video, it really gets a new, awesome meaning. Let me explain; last year I tried to commit and almost passed away. I ended up in a psych ward but my family lives very far away from here and no one could bring me stuff from the outside. My lips were so chapped I lost a lot of blood daily. I had a terrible blister because I kept biting it from stress. I ended up asking for one to a person that was there, her parents gave me one. I was so miserable. Lipsticks now remind me of a luxury, something that's taken so granted but in there it was something I dreamed of. It keeps me grounded to think about it. To remember those hopeless nights. I don't want to go back there even if I struggle daily and often think about doing it again, I won't. I want to survive. When the little girl mentioned it, an infinity of lipsticks, it really made me smile and added a new layer of the tattoo I'll get. From now on the tattoo I'll get will not only remember of my journey and growth but also of these beautiful girls and how much life is fragile, perfect but imperfect and most of all important. (English is not my first language so excuse me if there are any mistakes).

As someone who was born disabled I am so glad I wasnt just thrown away. Disabled people of any type have value if you cant handle raising a disabled child others will gladly do it. Callie and Carter are amazing and such a wonderful example of the value of all life what awesome parents what an amazing Mom for trusting her heart and not being pushed to dispose these amazing children. I could watch these two kids all day they are just an utter delight. Well done Mom and Dad for giving them all the love and normalcy they need and deserve. I hope and know they will have a great life even with the bumps in the road it is obvious they have been given a great foundation by their parents and they both know they have each other always.

It's about the value of woman's bodily autonomy, about the value of her health and life. If this woman chose to have her girls, it's HER choice, not my business. My choice would be different and it's not your business.

I have identical twin sons that are the same age. It brought tears to my eyes watching how these girls are exactly like my own sons. A twin relationship truly is astounding. They fight like crazy, but in the end, they are each other’s world. Lately they’ve been entering into what I call “twin land” together. It’s a place where the only two people who exist are each other. They zone out and play because no one else in the world matters more. Twins are such a beautiful thing to experience.

These two are definitely the Yin to each other’s Yang! Their personalities are so different, that’s what makes them such a great team.

The husband is one of my favorite parents SBSK has interviewed. His philosophy on life and challenges, despite his own, are beautiful. He describes things so well, just like them being little snowflakes ❄️
