Thanks for the tutorial, super clear! Do you know if there's any Max package that works on a Mac M1 chip that does the same thing you show in you video? The one you're using can't be installed. please help!!

That's a tough question. I'm surprised it doesn't automatically get handled by the OS since macOS does a generally good job of letting you run old code even on the M1 chips. Unfortunately I don't have an M1 Mac to test that on. Have you checked on the Max forums to see if folks are having similar issues and how they're getting around it? That'd be the best bet in this case I think!

I did stumble upon the same problem and though o.route is a bit more refined, you still can use OSC-route, which works fine with an M1.

Would be great to see how to use this patcher to send signals from TouchDesigner to Ableton, that's the part I'm having trouble with personally

For that task you take advantage of the TDAbleton package. Check out the abletonMapper, abletonRack, and abletonParameter components in TouchDesigner. This page has more info about the available TDAbleton COMPs: docs.derivative.ca/TDAbleton_System_Components

Excellent video, thanks for sharing! As with the other commenters, I'd love to see a video on sending OSC from Max to TD via UDP. I've spent several hours trying to get it happening but nothing seems to work.

Our pleasure! Thanks for the suggestion, it’s definitely on our radar for upcoming topics. That said, what are your settings looking like currently in Max and TD? Are you able to send OSC from TD to Max?

@@TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ Yes, I was able to follow this tutorial successfully and send OSC from TD to Max. Some time after posting my previous comment I did manage to successfully send OSC from Max to TD - the trick was to use the OSCIn CHOPs and DATs rather than the UDPIn DATs in TD, and to prepend a name to the outgoing data from Max (i.e. "prepend /max", for example) to ensure that this data is OSC-compliant. Being a complete novice, I did not understand the requisite data structure for OSC (and still do not completely get it just yet). I'm looking forward to your video on the topic - I'm sure you'll be able to demonstrate some great applications of this inter-application connectivity.

do you think it would be possible to send osc the other way around? from max to td?

Yup it's equally as easy just in the other direction. You'd need to setup your outgoing values as OSC channels, which I'm sure odot library has some nodes for, and then you'd send that out of the udpsend node to send it over to TouchDesigner.

@@dariusfeier7003 No need to be sorry, everyone was new at some point :) Which part are you having trouble with? Receiving the data in TouchDesigner from Max or receiving the data in Max from TouchDesigner?

@@dariusfeier7003 Likely you're looking for the OSC In CHOP in TouchDesigner to receive the data.
