I had an issue today where i started the 30 day trial on mix effect "not pro" to see if its worth buying the pro version. So my atem mini pro connects and i am able to use everything on my iPad. The only issue is that when i add multiview 1 on the first addons i see the multiview on the ipdad but all the images are black. But when i connect something to a multiview monitor from the output on the mini i see everything on my external multiview monitor but not on my iPad mix effect?? Any reason why that might happen?

@@jjvaldez1517 The video signal doesn't transfer to MixEffect when you use the Multiview Switcher panel. You can specify static images to display for your Inputs 1-4. If you want to see the actual Multiview, you need to use something like VDO.ninja to stream your Multiview so that the Remote Webview feature along with the Remote Webview panel can display it in MixEffect. How is the IPAD connected to the network. WIFI or with a adapter and Ethernet cable? You jump that, which is the most importante detail.

@@REC.709 In the video, it was connected via Ethernet. If I unplugged the USB-C cable, the device would have dropped the connection, then re-established over Wi-Fi. I had it connected via Ethernet because I was also outputting the screen through the ATEM.

Yes, you can do this now, either through USB (with a compatible switcher) or via external camera support. MixEffect will work with the 2 M/E Production 4K switcher provided it’s up to date with its firmware. You would connect to it the same way you do with your Mini… over Ethernet.

Apple's USB3 to Lightning Adapter (which has a power port too) along with an Apple compatible USB-Ethernet adapter should do the trick. You could also put a wireless router as a bridge on the same network as the Constellation and have ONLY the iPhone connect to it.

When it says this, you are connected to the ATEM Simulator. You should get the IP address of the ATMP from the ATEM Setup app and enter that into MixEffect. Make sure that your devices are connected to the same network. If they are not, they will likely not connect. Also, in newer versions of MixEffect, ATEMs that are discovered on the network appear in the New Switcher Connection sheet. Let me know if this helps or if you need further assistance.

You can connect MixEffect with your ATEM switcher using Ethernet or Wi-Fi. If you open up ATEM Setup on your Mac or PC, you can see the IP address assigned to your ATEM switcher. Enter that number into MixEffect for your Switcher Connection. You can confirm that you're on the same network by comparing the Router/Gateway and Subnet Mask between ATEM Setup and your iPad (Settings > Wi-Fi > tap the i button next to the connected Wi-Fi access point). Generally, the first three numbers of the IP address between your iPad and the ATEM switcher must match (i.e. 192.168.1.abc and 192.168.1.xyz). If the first three numbers differ, it's likely you are on a different network.

Looks like you are connecting to the ATEM Simulator built into MixEffect instead of your Extreme. Make sure you are entering the IP address of your Extreme, which you can find in the ATEM Setup app on Mac/PC. Your MixEffect device and your ATEM should also be on the same physical network. I have additional videos which cover connecting to your switcher that you can watch on this channel. Let me know if the tips help and I’d you are able to connect.

@@AdamTow I have the same issue as Tesla.I tried all the options for the IP address that you recommended and I still getting the simulator instead of the actual unit "the mini pro" I even deleted the app and reinstalled it and I kept getting the simulator. By the way the app didn't even recognize the unit even though it's on the same network. I don't know what else to try.

@@ARKITEKTIA If you are seeing the simulator, you are enter the wrong IP address for the ATEM. You are entering the IP address for the MixEffect device. You need to find the IP address of the ATEM by going to the ATEM Setup application on your Mac or PC. It will show you what the IP address is. Now, if you have set up the ATEM to use a static IP address and entered the exact same IP address as your MixEffect device, this is not correct. Two machines on the same network should NOT have the same IP address. Once you enter the IP address of the ATEM switcher into MixEffect, it should work so as long as the two devices are on the same physical network. Generally, unless you have a custom network built out, this means the subnet mask should be the same and the router should be the same.

I did go to my ATEM setup and got its IP address / gateway router etc. as you suggested in your replies earlier and use it to connect but it’s still referring me to the simulator unit, even though the simulator unit has a different IP address. I even tried another iPad , but I am still having the same issue it connects to the simulator. The app did not even saw my unit to recommend it even though it’s on the same network. I am gonna keep trying hopefully it will recognize it. Thanks again for your fast reply!

Please outline how you want it to work and what's plugged in right now. How is the ATEM connecting to the LiveUSolo? Through a USB port? Ethernet? HDMI Out? What's the Ninja V doing? What kind of iPad mini do you have? Lightning or USB-C version?

Most ATEM switchers can have up to five controllers connected to the switcher. You can have ATEM Software Control running on your desktop and MixEffect on your iPad running at the same time. So, yes, if you find MixEffect can do everything for you, you can just have MixEffect running.

You can use the free version. There is a 30-day trial of MixEffect Pro features in the free version. Once the trial is over, you will only be able to change sources and cut between them.

Are you referring to the Multiview Switcher panel in MixEffect? Note that this does not display moving images by default. It can display static images that you define. No, that switcher does not support SuperSource. Currently, only the ATEM Mini Extreme, Mini Extreme ISO, 2 M/E Production Studio 4K, 4 M/E Broadcast Studio 4K, and the Constellation 8K support SuperSource.

Yes. Make sure you are up-to-date on the ATEM Television Studio HD's firmware (8.x).

Please use the feedback link in the app (MixEffect Settings > Send Feedback) and send me an email with screenshots of ATEM Setup (with IP address of the ATEM), your iPad/iPhone Network settings, and your Switcher Connection entry in MixEffect. I need to see the IP addresses. For the simulator, you just need to enable the Simulator in MixEffect Settings > Enable ATEM Simulator and create an entry pointing to 127.0.0.1. Also make sure that Local Network is turned ON in iOS Settings > MixEffect. The app displays a dialog the first time you run MixEffect. If you hit Cancel, you will never be able to connect until you enable that setting.

Are you up-to-date on the firmware for the Constellation 1 M/E? I had a loaner from BMD and confirmed that MixEffect worked on that switcher, but maybe something new is up? When you say the app shuts down, do you mean it quit and went back to the Home Screen?

Yes, ATEM should be connected to a switch/router via Ethernet. Or, as in the video, you can directly connect to the iPad. I recommend the first option, however.

Use Wi-Fi. Make sure you're on the same network as your ATEM (which should be connected to a router or switch via Ethernet to the same network).

Yes, this will work. You may still need a PC with ATEM Setup to configure the ATEM's network settings if necessary.

If they are connected to the same router, be it through Wi-Fi or Ethernet, it should work. Your case is an edge case, so I would test it to verify. I would have the ATEM connected to your Mac via USB-C during configuration so you can run ATEM Setup and adjust its network settings. See what the router provides it and see what IP address MixEffect gets when it's connected to the Wi-Fi network. If they have the same subnet and IP address range, it should just work. Report back on what you find!

MixEffect works when your ATEM is connected to Ethernet. The ATEM can still be connected to your computer (for webcam and control). Assuming: 1. ATEM plugged into network router 2. iOS or iPad also connected to the same network, via Wi-Fi or Ethernet 3. Opening up MixEffect and choose New ATEM Switcher will show the ATEM at the bottom of the sheet. Tap it to pre-populate the IP address. 4. Or, open up ATEM Setup on your computer and get the IP address of the switcher. I recommend setting a static IP address for the switcher so that it doesn’t change (if you are keeping the ATEM at the same location).

Any modern Ethernet cable should work. Cat 5 or Cat 6.

It needs to be connected to a network, but the network doesn’t have to be connected to the internet. For instance, you can connect it to a wireless router, create a closed network between the ATEM and your iPad, and use it that way. The wireless router doesn’t have to be connected to the internet.

I don't think this will work for the following reasons. 1) The ATEM is using the iPhone's network (via USB) just for streaming. I don't think it is also using that connection for network control. 2) I would plug an Ethernet cable from the ATEM into a travel Wi-Fi router. The iPad can connect to that to control the ATEM, either through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. 3) As for multiview, that's going to be difficult without an intermediate computer using Remote Webview feature. But at this point, it's probably easier to get a small HDMI monitor and plug that into the Multiview port on the ATEM.

@@AdamTow ok so what if i use a travel router to give internet access on the atem, use my iphone to load MixEffect to control the atem and lastly connect an hdmi monitor through hollylands mars 300 pro on the atems hdmi out, for the multiview?

Yeah that was me misspeaking. The iPad IP is .41 not .40. Also check that Local Network is toggled on in iOS Settings > MixEffect. Sometimes the dialog box gets skipped or you accidentally click cancel (it appears when you first install the app). If it’s not on, you won’t be able to connect.

Definitely check the iOS Settings > MixEffect > Local Network toggle. I bet you it's off.

You didn't set the port numbers for OSC and HTTP server to be the same, did you? It's somewhat okay for the HTTP server to be in green or orange, not red.

No, they are different. I wasn’t able to change them but they are different port numbers

It's pretty clear from the documentation that there is minimal support for controlling BM cameras (just AF on HDMI switchers). There are some third-party apps for controlling BM cameras on the App Store, however.

@@AdamTow OK, yes as I found out. Do I take this to mean you have no intention to add support for CCU on BM cameras? You have such a good app, it seems such a shame to miss this final step in making it a must have. It would be amazing. So close yet so far.

@@bernzeppi I would not say it's never coming, but it's not on the immediate roadmap. My time is limited, and so there's only so much I can work on.

When you first try to connect, there's a dialog asking you to allow MixEffect to talk to computers over the network. Did you allow it? If not, you can toggle it on in iPadOS Settings > MixEffect > Local Network If that doesn't do it, send me an email to mixeffect (at) tow (dot) com and we can troubleshoot this over email and maybe a Zoom session. It's probably a very simple thing to fix!

Have you read the Connection Help page at: docs.mixeffect.app/troubleshooting/connection-help Let me know what exactly you think is the problem? Are the two devices on the same network? Make sure that the Wi-Fi network can access the ATEM (if on the Ethernet network). Also make sure that Local Network is enabled in iOS Settings > MixEffect > Local Network.

KZfaq comments isn't the right place to drop screenshots, so send me an email (feedback link in MixEffect Settings) and include screenshots of ATEM Setup (the networking tab which shows the IP address of the ATEM), your Switcher Connection settings (in MixEffect), your iOS network settings (where I can see the IP address), and any details of how your network is set up (i.e. Wi-Fi, Ethernet, etc.).

ATEM needs to be connected to the router. It can't be connected to the computer for MixEffect to work.

@@AdamTow Fortunately we do not need LAN access (helpful in many hotels). Here is what I do: 1. Connect laptop via WiFi to router. 2. Connect iPad (with MixEffect) via WiFi to the same router. 3. Connect Atem via USB1 to Laptop. 4. Connect Atem via LAN-Cable to iPad (you'll need an iPad to LAN adapter). 5. Start Setup on Laptop set connection to: IP Setting: DHCP, Conncetion Priority Mobile (!!!) 6. In MixEffect set Mixer to the IP you got from step 5. 7. Connect smartphone (!) via WiFi to router. 8. Connect smartphone to Atem via USB2 and set smartphone to USB tethering. Now you can go ON AIR! You can even record on your SSD by: 9. Disconnect laptop from Atem's USB1! 10. Connect your SSD to USB1. You can of course use your laptop as an HDMI-Input for the ATEM all the time, too. This way I managed to get ATEM mini connected to the iPad without access to the LAN. And MixEffect is fully functional now. Maybe my solution is even too complicated, simpler solution appreciated. What do you think? -Mino
