I, along with my mum and brother, were the ones doing the cpr on my Dad in January. It was so sudden, he had dropped me off at work just 20 minutes earlier. I got the call and sprinted home, but it was always too late. The emotions and shock, as well as immediate pragmatism, were captured perfectly here. The only thing this episode didn't cover I would say (not that it necessarily needed to) is that cpr is REALLY draining after a while, it's hard to keep it up after 4-5 minutes. Those plane crew members were (and I'm sure are in real life planes) awesome to keep going so long! I wish everyone all the very best who is dealing with this sort of trauma. I am thankful in my case I have great memories of my Dad, we didn't leave on bad terms, and he didn't suffer.

Shiv's anxious reaction when she was on the phone while Logan was receiving CPR was exactly how I reacted when I was watching the doctors doing CPR on my mom when she was dying. I think many of us felt like Roman , looking for hope. I can say from my personal experience ( my Dad’s passing) they captured so many real -life elements. I thought there were so many great scenes, but one of the most underrated is Karolina's acting on the plane, her composure, her iciness even. There is also the moment when Logan boards the plane and Karolina is informed that Gerri is fired. She keeps her pokerface as she discusses with Logan, but her expression instantly changes once his back is turned, because she knows everyone in his entourage is disposable.

As someone who has distanced herself emotionally from a narc parent but still loves him very much, this episode hit me SO hard. It felt like my own dad died. And I have all these mixed feelings that parallel with Roman - denial of his death, denial of who he really was (“you were good”, “you were a good dad), feelings of anger (Kendall’s lack of forgiveness), all their sadness. It just hurt. It’s crazy how - losing even a toxic parent can hit so deep. You can love someone AND dislike who they are.

People ask what’s the appeal of a show about 3 nepo babies and I respond with this (among other things of course): you get a chance to explore some of the most human emotions you will ever witness from a TV show. This episode captured grief in a way that I haven’t seen before and seeing Logan’s lifeless body in the background shook me. Beautifully crafted episode & series.

There are people out there who suffer far far worse than these people and their emotions are more worthy of exploring. Also there are more “human” emotions on display in plenty of other television shows. As good as it is, this series unfortunately ends up romanticizing and perpetuating exactly what it claims to be criticizing.

Agreed. As an actor, MacFadyen had to navigate between bullying Greg, genuine compassion for the siblings, a sense of loss - about Logan and/or his probable career trajectory from now on, and ambivalent feelings about Shiv. All while presenting us with a believably complicated character.

It was extra tragic because in the last two episodes, it felt like Logan was actually humanizing himself a bit. You could tell he was missing his kids and feeling a bit unfulfilled with things. And that scene at the karaoke club was the most genuine and real his character has ever felt I think. Yet still always felt very Logan. The writing and acting in the show is just top notch. And as others mentioned, the way they handled the death and reactions felt so realistic.

A brilliant episode in every single way. The writing, the callbacks to the things done and said before, how grief is captured.. everyone's acting was phenomenal. The direction, editing, blocking. Quite literally everything was amazing. The standout, unsurprisingly, was again Jeremy Strong. The way his voice changes and how he holds himself, how he takes charge, trying to hold himself and his siblings together. Him standing aloof on the deck and at the end. Him on call with Frank. Him saying I love you but I can't forgive you and its okay. Him saying shivvy, honey. The silent tears and the snot!!! The way the camera follows him.. and the ending shot; just him in his pain. And many more details that will only be visible on rewatches. The whole episode a marvel through and through, can't wait to see how this season continues to gut us.

I think hes annoyed at how people think Logan is the devil and I fully agree. Don't get me wrong, he is brutal in many ways but he is definitely misunderstood. A good example is how people interpreted the scene of Logan giving his grandson the first bite. Many people thought hes showing kendall that hes ready to poison his grandon if necessary and thats how evil he is when in actuality hes just responding to Kendalls act of swapping the plates and the ridiculousness of it. The show is so much more complex then Logan the bad guy, and Kendall the good guy trying to take over. Which is why I love it.

I truly thought this was a fake out for at least half the episode. Until I saw the body after they stopped CPR lying there on the floor as a blur, I just kept denying it was over. I think it was a brilliant move on the writers part to allow the audience to see how this event will change Waystar and its employees. I have to say there were very subtle things that I noticed too. Connor has always been a little bit left out and even in this big family moment, they didn't even give him a thought. Not once did those siblings think, we should get Connor until after they saw him. I wondered how long it would be before he would be notified. I also noticed the dynamic has not shifted completely between Jerri and Roman. He has definite mother issues and Jerri was a surrogate to those issues. The vulnerability he showed when he said he was sad when it was just the two of them, and she just walked out of the room hit home too. He needed that mother figure. Someone to hug him. I have noticed a maturity in Roman this season and I hope it continues. He is my favorite character by far.

I genuinely thought Logan was faking it/testing them at first. I think it was because we didn't see his body for quite some time. Either that or I was in denial about him dying or just expecting it based on all of the shocking things he's done in past seasons.

I think what also needs to be praised, is the editing of this episode. For the most part they really got the audience think if this was real or some sort of manipulation. Before they showed the body.

Great team Michael and Jesse nailed it! The storytelling was so intense! It felt as if someone I knew died without warning. It was jarring just like it happens in real life. And Mylod captured it so well. The way he shot this it felt like it was happening in real time. Even just the little cut -away to the Logan’s driver sadly waiting by the plane, realizing the old man was gone. Like a dog waiting by the door for its owner to walk in. But the owner just passed away.

Brian Cox legitimately thinks Logan is a victim of his children. I know it’s common to empathize with your character, but I feel like that’s pretty delusional. Love Brian tho

@@jordanstephens4178 there’s a reason it’s called ACTING. You’re portraying the emotions and thoughts of a character, not your own personality. Brian is playing an extremely evil and vile character, so it’s definitely odd that he’s agreeing and sympathizing with the character so much.

@@reecedubinsky1157 I mean his explanation of the scene in Italy is pretty much what I took from it as well. He knew Kendall was trying to get Logan to think he might have poisoned him, but he also knew Kendall wouldn’t ACTUALLY have done that. So he took the mind game and flipped it. I don’t think Brian Cox has ever said Logan was a great man lol. “He does love his children but they don’t honor him” that whole section sounds like he’s explaining his character’s POV.

@@justinsayswtf don’t get me wrong I do think he understands the character and I don’t think he actually thinks like Logan in reality lol. I guess I’ve just found it odd how much he’ll usually agree with or rationalize logans decisions, when there’s just a certain point with people like that where you literally can’t forgive them and try to rationalize their behavior, as the kids have slowly figured out.

Sorry but you need to stop conflating the actor and the character. The actor needs to understand the character to play it truthfully. The character thinks his children don't honour, him because they don't want to emulate him or learn from him. He gave the space to choose to do so, but they each chose paths that showed that they did not understand the man who was their father. They never had the desire to take him or what he did seriously, by their own volition. That's why even though he loved them, he could not help but be disappointed in them. They only saw the status and the role, but not the meaning or what it took to do what he did. So, with that he has no real legacy to leave in the world. It dies with him, as there is no-one up to the task.

This is not my original thought, but clearly, someone in the writers room had somewhat of a similar experience to this. When you lose a parent, it's very unlikely that you go to the hospital and they give you one last heartfelt speech when they know it's the end, it just kinda happens out of the blue. Brilliant and brutal storytelling

logan always had a choice between family and business. his biggest weakness is that he would always try to pick both. both of which suffered because of it. the one episode he chooses business over his son’s wedding is when he dies. he doesn’t have a triumphant and cathartic death like most tv main characters, he goes out off screen. away from his family, instead with his business associates. the audience is just as taken aback by this as the children, such a bold move. it honestly had me feeling like this was bad writing but after some recollection i realize how genius this really is.

None of his children would have a seat in the inner circle based on their own merit, and that’s Logan’s weakness…including his inept children with important decisions, hoping one of them steps up and proves to have the killer instinct.
