4 жыл бұрынIt has become time to pull out my cylinder mowers. Cutting with a reel gives the cleanest cut of any mower I know of. I am using a Toro Greensmaster 1600 with a groomer setup and also a Toro Reelmaster 3100d.
While the grass was super long and shaggy, the cut turned out to be decent. This lawn needs some TLC and care.

Thank you for showing the truth about reel mowing my friend. You have no idea how many emails I get from folks who have bought $3,000 reel mowers without realizing the true commitment it takes. And if you have leaves falling on your lawn, or it gets overgrown, you still need a rotary to clean up. I am glad you are showing the truth. Don't get me wrong, I love reel mowing, and when I say that, I love to watch YOU, because I am not willing to commit the time and effort that you do. Respect!

I live in Norway and have just completed a full dethatching and verticutting my lawn with topdressing and overseeding. Buy a power washer from Lowe's or whatever depot store ya'll got out there in Utah to clean your reel every couple of times. Saves you a lot of headache and makes your 1600 look like a champ! Great lawn maintenance also comes with cleaning your tools. Keep rockin Lawn Rebel! Also, leaving the bucket off your mower returns grass clippings (Nitrogen) back into the soil for recycling, it's not much and takes awhile to break down but can be a useful trick helping your lawn get started in the fall but you are right about adding N to the lawn. Remember: "N makes it go up, P makes it go down, K spreads it all around."

The part of the leaf sheath that wraps around the stalk is called the auricle. On the auricle, ligules may or may not be present. These are features used in grass identification :)

Check your carb, mine did the same surging on my tm1000 and the carb was dirty. The jets are super tiny and the smallest particle can block it up.

to get that new kbg going i would do 3/4# N to start then micro push it every week with .25#. try some 46-0-0 with some rgs and humic mixed in your tank sprayer and it will just go crazy.

Enjoyed your video. I have been cutting my Kentucky blue grass for a month now. It’s slow to green up but once it does it’s the best on the block. We haven’t exactly got had a good spring here in Philadelphia. It’s been mostly rainy and cold. They are actually calling for some snow here this weekend. Crazy.

Connor, sounds like a fuel delivery issue with the Greens Master. Probably needs the carb cleaned. The few passes didn't look that bad. If you recall last fall, you ran the mower with the groomer in the raised (transport) position. Might try that again and see if it's to your liking. I know you have lots on your plate. Hang in there. ~ mike

Try doing your perimeter pass last. Cleans up any turnaround marks.

It drives me crazy when he mows the clean up passes first. Also, I don't understand the obsession with catching the clippings. They provide nutrients back to the plant and all turf grasses need a healthy layer of thatch.

Make sure you have new petrol / gas in your mower if it’s been left from last year it can oxidise and your mowers / strimmer etc can run poorly

You should get your soil sampled. That way you can see where you need to apply the nitrogen and get the most bang for your buck.
