I can't believe he still participates and believes in 'politics' ,as we know it today. Or that Obama is any different from any other meatpuppet that represents the corporation that operates under the title 'United States of America'

When he was looking for a 'c-word' for coming together, I swore he was gonna say "clusterfuck" 😅

I apologize all the time for things that had nothing to do with me. Maybe that's why I respect it, it doesn't show weakness, imo, deep empathy. Being able to absorb other people's fears or pain and he ended it very positively saying that now is the time to come together the most. I appreciate it and I think it shows a genuine side to human nature because he is an artist and although he produces music for us he's not a music making machine that has to keep politics out he's still a human being a part of this country in this world and can contribute his thoughts just like you and I. Here is an example of apologizing for something you have nothing to do with: I hope hope hope hope that we all have equal rights marry still, under Trump. If that gets taken away I will apologize to my friends of the gay community and I will empathize. I didn't take that away but I will say I am sorry that it is happening and comfort them.

also you were saying about apologizing for stuff that happened a long time ago Trump is the present and from here into next 4 years everything that happens from here on has the potential to affect everyone on the planet I think that's a little bit different than apologizing for something you didn't have anything to do with 20 30 50 years ago

I largely share his sentiment, but , as Bernie even suggested, we have to try to reach out to those that we might have failed, those that the Dems policies haven't reached, or have failed. I don't think making fun of fishing is going to reach them. I live in Red Country, and I'm liberal, and I supported Bernie, and voted for Hillary, but calling people dumb shits isn't going to win them over.

I love his music maybe more than anyone but I could truly give a fuck less about what he thinks about politics. Not that he can’t say his piece but his political views are just about as irrelevant as they could be.

Haha kind of awkward talking about Chelsea Manning in the same breath as praising Obama when he prosecuted more whistleblowers under the Espionage Act than all previous president combined... But hey, his heart is in the right place, and he’s not a political figure- the music is great.

Yes! My thoughts exactly! However, in another video I just watched the Conor Oberst, he stated that he likes Obama, but then went on to say just how much Obama let him down… which, in my opinion, was awesome... I’ll try to find the link... Here it is: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mMx_iLqG3pvTemQ.html it is also important to note that eight years of Obama was just another steppingstone to Trump… as awful as Donald Trump is, he is a symptom of a much larger issue! Until politicians actually represent the people over their corporate donors… It will only get worse..

I wanted to go to this show, but then I was too broke, so I didn't and kinda forgot about it. I started watching this video, but after a minute I realized I didn't even wanna hear his opinion. I loved this guy so much when I was a teenager and his music helped me get through a lot. I always thought meeting him and really getting to know him would be the greatest thing ever, but now I think I prefer to hold on to the idealistic picture of him I created in my own mind. It's a nice picture and I can project whatever I want onto it. And I certainly do NOT wanna hear the idol of my teenage years call me a racist for not joining the leftist echo chamber. This stupid election in a country that's not even mine has ruined enough things (and people) for me, I'm not gonna let it ruin this nice picture and all the memories that are attached to it. After all, I'm glad I didn't go to this show. It would have, lowkey, broken my heart.

Good lord this is some small-brained blather, and that's coming from a person who has listed to CO religiously for seven years. For all fellow fans, please realize that there is a large distinction in being a great song-writer and being intellectually illuminating. In this intro, he is doing effectively nothing but repeating talking points he has heard others say ad infinitum on CNN. They are not thoughts he has arrived at through his own careful thought, and, to be honest, it seems as though he thinks very tribally, like most American voters, and is unable to detach himself from the herd and consider WHY he supports those who he does. My impression is that he will always vote for the liberal candidate, even if he/she does not embody those principles which he supposedly holds dear. Ergo, if a 'righty' ran on every fundamental issue that CO cared about, he would still have this opinion of him/her, because he thinks in terms of dualities. The fact that cultural figures like CO still have this exact same opinion of Trump despite his accomplishments as POTUS is testament to their inability to diverge from the intellectual hegemony of the herd.
