I was in the South mall in 1963 as a very young boy when President kennedy was passing by the Imperial Hotel is was lifted up in and I was looking at the face of the President many a time I iam in the South Mall i think of 1963 and that great President kennedy if trump was outside my house today I would Pull my Blinds

I didn't realize Ireland loved JFK so much! I'm sure they mourned as Americans did when he was executed!

We loved and still do love JFK. You see, he embraced his Irish roots.......he had been to Ireland before he came to politics if I remember correctly and his family were not overly interested . His father had been the American ambassador to the UK if I remember correctly. I think they wouldnt have liked Jack's interest in his Irish roots.......it was uncouth in a time of "no dogs, no blacks, no Irish". His ancestors had worked their way up. I read somewhere that being Irish in the USA wasn't considered in great esteem and that his relations worked hard to overcome the prejudice and distance themselves from their destitute past. Throughout generations, they worked their way up the social ladder and became involved in local politics. I like to think that this Irish trip was a necessary visit, but a nice distraction for him. He had a lot going on politically at the time.
