I can get a research opportunity in Renewable Energy +for that I would have some knowledge which I can gain by MOOC) but I want to major in CS? If I do that, will it help me getting in Universities?

you could somehow incorporate your CS skills into the renewable energy research opportunity, such as maybe creating a database for the Renewable energy research or you can be like a "tech assistant" for the professor or sponsor hosting the research opportunity. these are just some examples, you can come up with something else of you want :)

not really, as your major will have to align with the extracurriculars that you have done in the past. For instance, if you don't have any prior experience or projects related to CS, and suddenly apply for a CS major, it will just look like you're trying to study CS because it pretty much assures that you have a high-paying job. Colleges hate that. Try to connect your current project with CS, or make a new project regarding the interests you're passionate about.

Hey...so I’m currently in my sophomore year, and haven’t done any extracurriculars because at my old school, there really was nothing available to me(I was not in North America at the time). I’m really worried that everyone else applying when I will has a much better extracurricular list in terms of the duration they’ve done things...do you think I still have a chance to take things up and now be successful in the admission process?

don't worry! when going through the admission process, colleges look at what schools you went to and what they offered and what they didn't offer. for example, if two students have a passion for biology and one student took AP Biology at their school but the other student didn't take AP biology because it wasn't offered at his/her school, the college WON"T take off points or prefer the other student that did AP Biology because they will know that it wasn't offered. hope this helped :)

I don't think so, like most of the colleges clearly mention the gpa they need in the criteria. You should go check that out!

it really depends on the college you are applying to. however, most schools require a good gpa, but if you have good extracurriculars and you manage to show who you are through the essays, then maybe. do your research!! good luck!!
