These batreps are great, really engaging! I'd love to see the battle of Dale. An Easterling host battling it out against Dwarves and Men of Dale. The battle of five armies could be really fun too. I'd love to see one with a bit more sound tactics than elves jumping over shield walls like in the film 😂

Would love to see some fall of Arnor batreps, maybe following some of the scenarios from the rise of the Witch king game

It would be neat to see a battle without named heroes. Like one of many nameless skirmishes between the powers of the middle earth. Maybe even a fight between factions that in the third age typically were on the same side? Like two types of orcs fighting or gondor vs black numenorians? Those lesser known things that happened, but were not on the big screen.

There are some audio issues in the new studio, I think some anti-echo padding would help.

I really would like to see one of the big scenarios from the army books, like Pelennor Fields or the Battle of Five Armies! The quality of your battle reports is really good, I certainly would like to see more narrative scenarios out of the source books in this quality!

You can already tell the difference now you've gone full time. The last couple of bat reps have been really high quality and the effort shows. I loved the assualt on lothlorien report. Would be cool to see Boromir and minas Tirith take on the witch king at the bridge of osgiliath, that's a personal favourite reference from the books I'd love to see brought to life.

I’d love to see a series of narrative games follow in Balin’s attempt to reclaim Moria, perhaps starting with Balin fighting to enter Moria, clearing the 21st hall and mazarbul, searching for mithril etc. if Balin dies then you can go into the fate of the company attempting to break out past the watcher ultimately culminating on this board in last stand. Would be awesome if victory/losses carried over bonuses to the next fight as a punishment or reward depending on the outcome. Same with the numbers of dwarves Balin has available to him. Could add some battle company elements like upgrading warriors to Khazâd guard and such once certain conditions are met, such as securing the old armoury or forges etc. The main focus is on the story telling though, I just think it would make for an awesome series to see how long Balin can last!

You're always doing great stuff for this community! Suggestion for video editing would be to have the Stats of the heroes in the top corner somewhere that doesn't look tacky. Plus, there's a great KZfaq channel called Agadmator who reviews Chess matches. He has a "Pause the video" moment in each game where he asks the audience to see if they can find the winning or decisive move as challenge, then he shows them why the decisive move was so good. It would be interesting from a competitive point of view to see a snapshot somewhere in the match and ask the audience if they can see the opening one player left or the key decision. It may be easier said than done for MESBG but it's definitely a fun exercise.

I like these hardcore narrative scenario batreps. Really appreciate how you explained the scenario objectives in the start. I would like to see more narrative scenarios being played with the hardcore style. Especially if you pick some scenarios that are a bit tricker: Tournament players having fun is always refreshing to see, but do what you like. MESBG is such a niche hobby nowadays that just about any batrep made with your level of quality will be fun to watch..

I’d love to see some behind the scenes studio tour kind of thing, maybe a walkthrough of how a batrep gets made, etc!

My suggestion: I love when clips of the films are cut into battle reports. Either generic or specific for the scenario. Makes them so epic

Would like to see more narrative games like this, the standard competition scenarios are over played elsewhere. I enjoy your enthusiasm, tactic description, and narration. I enjoy the players thoughts before and after game. you are always so sporting and your games are always fun. it might seem a small point but I really like the fact that never swear.

Another great game! I think the Mirkwood elves should get their time to shine in a Battle under the trees batrep! Loved the Lothlorien one! Together with a Battle of Dale batrep, ( as suggested earlier), we would get to see all the major battles in the north during the War of The Ring

Battle companies campaign focused around 1 setting. For example, 3 Rohan battle companies battling against 3 Isengard companies in a campaign format that leads to all 6 companies fighting it out included in the helms deep scenario with other models

cool battrep. As a suggestion for future content: How about some battle companies content? In my opinion is battle companies is somewhat underrated and really fun. Especially the journey to the blue mountains adventure. I believe this could also be a good opportunity to show off some terrain in a different light. The black gate would be awesome! Loads of heroes battling an endless horde of orcs trying to survive while Frodo and Sam try and destroy the ring! Maybe after like turn 8-10 the men of the west have to roll a 6 at the end of the turn to end the game stating Frodo has destroyed the ring if not they all will fall

Two ideas. The first one is a Siege of Dale/Erebor, I don't think I've seen anyone take a shot at Dale or Erebor terrain wise nevermind a battle report for them, I love the idea of Dale's models but I usually build my armies by whether or not I've got terrain or inspiration for them The other is an Expedition homebrew narrative campaign retaking Moria similar to the expedition seen in Lord of the Rings Online

As I'm still learning the game all the reasoning and thoughts going into the moves and heroics is really good! Lots of other bat reps are just guys throwing dice with a shaky camera. I actually learn something when watching your stuff. Anyway, big bad S-man vs the last alliance would be nice to see.

Great battle report. Been looking at all my old 2002-era LOTR minis and been considering the need to remove all the varnish & paint off the original Fellowship box set paint them up to my current standards. Part of me sees the old figures as a time capsule, but since they are so old and out of print, I'd be able to breathe new life into them for playing scenarios like these.

A Bilbo themed fantasy fellowship would be a lot of fun I reckon.

Question of the day: I want to see you play your Army of Thror on the Durak Deep terrain, but as a horde instead of your normal hero heavy list. Suggestions/Tips: 1) Either a 2nd camera set over the dice tray or edit in pictures of the dice with the results when there’s a roll. 2) An overlay that takes up about 25% of the space to either the left or the right with 1st force on top and 2nd force on bottom that keeps track of (a) each hero’s M/W/F (b) the forces’s break points/quartering and (c) VPs. Could also be used eventually for marketing once you get sponsorships with like manscaped or something. 3) Your body and voice are now your source of income. This means (a) seriously consider getting good “key man” insurance or other insurance that covers lost profits if you are down for the count at some point (b) make sure you take care of your body with good diet and exercise (easy to stop moving much once you have a stay in one place kind of job), (c) subscribe to creators like Vinh Giang who do vocal coaching for public speakers, and (d) learn how to care for your voice and execute (humidifiers, fisherman’s friend lozenges, hydrate hydrate hydrate). 4) Significantly more short form content. Much of your long form content has moments that can be clipped as is. For example, each army that you rated into a tier back on the day can be its own shorts called “How good is the ______ army in MESBG.”Otherwise, having a plan to maybe go over each hero and talk about them and how to use them can have you covered just by itself for literally months, and you can film them as a batch in advance and release one a day or less frequently. 5) Don’t forget that the name of the game is marketing. I really like the book “One Page Marketing Plan” by Allan Dib. Outside of just having a plan and sticking to it, make sure you learn about the KZfaq and google algorithm to take advantage of it. For example, the google algorithm uses back links to determine whether to highly rank a website or video option, so link you videos in places like reddit, twitter, facebook, and Instagram. Make sure your conquest creation URL is included in every video and social media post and also hosted on any store front that prints your STLs. You can do those printers a favor by hosting their URL on your own website which will help them with back links as well, just never pay for back links or you will get blacklisted. Also, the KZfaq bell icon is a trap, make a discord and use it to notify followers of new video drops. Always uncheck the notify followers box on KZfaq because (a) if followers are notified and then don’t interact with views, likes, and comments, it hurts your chances in the algorithm and (b) by having the box unchecked, it actually posts it out more for non-subscribers to see so that you can ideally get more subs. 6) Figure out what you’re good at and delegate the rest. For example, independent contractors can do your thumbnails, or AI if you don’t tell anyone you’re using it because it’s controversial. 7) find a good accountant. There’s probably a lot more tax breaks you can be taking on things you aren’t thinking about. 8) Start thinking about click bait titles and SEO optimized titles for videos. There are websites that can let you know what the most searched words and phrases are in your genre so that you can start sprinkling those into your titles and description boxes. Words like “best” “coolest” “most powerful” “most fun” should be used liberally, plus I imagine using specific hero names or commonly searched lotr words/phrases would be helpful. That’s all I can think about at the moment. I’m sure a lot of this has run through your head already. If you ever need a sounding board for ideas, whether creatively or just general business/marketing shenanigans, let me know and I can shoot you an email.

Love your channel, mate! What a great game! Exciting to the last moment and Frodo was a lucky bastard this time. One whish I would like to see in the following battle reports: When playing a narrative game with many heroes thus as this one, it would be cool if you could blend in the killcount and impressive deeds of the individual heroes. Either at the end of each turn, at the end of the game or both. I was very impressed by Boromirs killing spree and Aragorn killing the Troll, before he could hit anything. Would be great to know the exact killing stats of everyone thou.

I love the way you make the battles engaging while also keeping me focused on the game. If there is one thing i recommend, maybe some blood/death sounds when a person kills a goblin or whatever enemy. There's a really good battle report channel that does this, its called games night. Id say they are my favorite combination of battle report to story on KZfaq. Check it out if you want!

The older variant of this scenario is one Goblin Captain, and the Troll arrives about turn 5 or 6. If you felt the Fellowship has the upper hand, swap out one of the Captains for a Shaman.

Love your stuff man! Always glad to see more MESBG getting put out there! In return of the king, a number of men from Rohan and Lossarnarch were too frightened to continue on to the Black Gate. To give them a chance to preserve their honor, Aragorn commanded them to go to Cair Andros; a fortress that has been taken by the enemy, and reclaim it. Would love to see a batrep covering the retaking of this castle!

Beautiful board and very well made edited and presented batrep. Always think the strategy for this scenario for the fellowship is to retreat into a corner stairwell to negate getting swarmed and protecting the hobbits. Running in and killing makes no odds as the goblins regenerate. You just need to stall and stay alive

Just some friendly advice. I'd love to have a separate top-down camera for the dice try, maybe a picture in picture for the important roles. And also I'd really appreciate sticking to the same dice for each player so we don't lose track of whose who. Hope this helps

You need a point source back light to seperate your head shots from the background. A small single source hard light, not a panel, rigged onto your roof and hitting the back of your head.

Hey Jacob, loving the new studio setup. I'd love to see more competitive batreps, but I like that we're peppering in more narrative games. With regards to improvements, your camera work and video quality is consistently excellent, but I think you'd really benefit from improving your audio. The echoes can get a little distracting and detract from the otherwise excellent production value. Another commenter suggested putting up anti-echo wall padding, but I think it might be worth it to switch to lavalier mics for you and your guest. Lav mics would preserve your freedom of movement, and should minimize the amount of room tone. Looking forwards to seeing where you go next!

Loved the batrep - your battle reports are always great! There were a few times where the view of the dice was obscured by the terrain - having a dedicated camera view for the dice or having an animation that shows what the high roll/Wounding rolls was would solve that. :-)

Awesome battle rep! As far as I know, Sorcerous Blast is not like hurl. The blasted model does not suffer an s3 for every model it hits. It’s just an s5 hit on the initial target (unless it’s cavalry, then it’s an additional s3 for failed thrown rider) and s3 hit on the models it hits (but not the initial target). I also feel like evil would have won if Gandalf was casting those blasts at 5+ instead of 4s, as he would have probably thrown additional dice at the cats and would have run out of will sooner. Thoughts?

I would love to see a narrative campaign where you are on a journey like in the movies, but with some kind of point buy system to allow you to replenish troops between fights.

Absolutely love this scenario. As far as the channel goes maybe have a couple different series, like try one set day per week you upload a battle companies game and maybe another set day is some other kind of normal Battle report or scenario. Also do more calls to action asking people to like and subscribe, extra points if you can do it in funny or interesting ways.

i really like the scenario battle reports! MESBG is always great but more thematic = more good. I dont mind being a bit lax with rules if a gimli wants to squeeze through something for example but is there a reason you mostly just back away like half an inch instead of a full one? I am not talking about the times where you back away just slightly to get out of base contact if the trapped one loses.

Man, the production, lighting and boards you've been releasing lately are truly phenomenal. Love these and please keep them coming. One recommendation is doing something about the mics/echo in the studio. There's a static noise muffled in the back and it was tough to hear one or both of you at points.

More scenarios would be great, or some battle companies.

The batreps are great, I like the narration and not showing every dice roll. Keeping it focused on the overall story. My only requests are can you just get lavalier mics and use more natural lighting for the interview bits please? Also it sounds like you need noise dampening panels to reduce the reverb in your room.

Great batrep, love your vids. I agree with @weirdfish-ry9oq battle of Dale would be great. I'd lalso ike to see some Story Batreps from scenes that occurred in the books but not the films, you could even do a 3-4 batrep series all linked that ties in a particular part of the story.

I can't offer a solution, but as someone who is hard of hearing, sometimes the audio is difficult to make out, maybe some mini mics may be useful to invest in?

Honestly, my only issue with your batreps is the voice audio. The mic audio feels distant and a bit echoy. I have no idea about technical stuff, but it feels like you can improve it a fair bit.

I think honestly just keep making Battle Reps like this, maybe even some Tourney vlogs in the future as well but these battle reps are awesome so I fully encourage you to continue them. I think the Battle of Amon Hen or Fight on top Weathertop would be appropriate future videos, that or going off of the last video maybe one of the other battles that took place around the time of the Assault on Lothlórien elsewhere in Middle Earth. 💚🤍🧡
