I agree, but the legal channels are absolutely broken, and subject to totally arbitrary quotas that create massive backlogs. It can take a decade or more of waiting in line before you are allowed to reunite with your family, or come to work. And it has been broken ever since we first created immigration laws in 1924. Before that there was essentially open borders, unless you were Asian, had a serious illness like cholera, or were "likely to become a public charge." As long as you were a healthy person with $20 in your pocket from Europe, Latin America, the middle east, or Africa you could come here. That's why my Eastern-European Jewish ancestors were able to come here. Under the post-1924 visa-quota system they would have been locked out, since the quotas for the countries they came from (Russia, Poland, and Hungary) were very low, because of racist policies that saw eastern europeans as inferior. And that was, as you put it, THE LAW. Just because something is law doesn't mean it is right. Why is it that we can't return to such a system where people are presumptively allowed entry into the US, unless they meet an exception and are denied entry, as opposed to our current system where people are presumptively not allowed entry, unless they are able to meet the extremely restrictive and arbitrary visa requirements?

I did follow this lawyer because I am an immigrant who came here legally and did an adjustment of status. I have no problem with deportation of illegals. If you want to know sir, we legal immigrants pay insane amounts of money and strict regulations to get to this country. Overwhelming the system with illegals will not do this country better in the future after some of us are dead and gone. I know you’re focus on making money now but please reconsider the future it’s important. There’s no much dreams here for us either due to what I’ve foreseen in the nearest future I thinking about moving back home due to the rate of decline this country is going through right now. Sometimes you have to put your country first. Borders are established for a reason and lot of sick people (psychopaths) are actually living on this earth.

Sure, let’s start helping these immigrants that came to the country illegally! Why don’t you invite some of them to stay at your place Jim? Let them eat your food, use your bathroom, take a nice shower, maybe hire them to work at your office since they are only here trying to have a better life. Give them the opportunity they deserve, Jim! They don’t have work authorization, but they didn’t have authorization to enter the country either and that doesn’t seem to be a problem to you. What about the criminals that are entering the country and doing horrible things? Oh no! Nothing can be worst than Trump trying to protect his country and his people. People doing it the right way and getting their visas because they followed the requirements and rules are just dumb. Come on in guys!!!! The doors are open for everybody!!!!! It’s not illegal for people fleeing persecution or violence to enter the US seeking asylum. Pass the house bill that would process these refugees quickly to sort out the legitimate asylum seekers!

As a DACA recipient, I’m going to say one thing only. I’m sick and tired of feeling “unwanted” by a country I knew and thought it was my own. I was brought here at the age of 2, I’m a mexican citizen. And I’m honestly so tired of feeling like I’m here today, but who knows where I’ll be tomorrow. If i have to go back to a country I know NOTHING about other than “I was born there” then let it be. I will proudly go back and live a happier life than what I’m currently getting here. This country is truly disgusting towards anyone who is not white. They discriminate based on looks and color, doesn’t matter if you’re a USA citizen, if you look dark skin, you will be discriminated against. Mexico for what I know, is a welcoming country, and honestly at this point I’m just waiting for a strong enough reason to make me pack up my bags and leave.

What’s the alternative Jim? I feel fortunate that I am a British citizen now living in the USA I’m very glad the USA and UK have an excellent relationship. This is a scary case for me and my husband waiting on a current I-130 petition to be processed. In this 2025 project the USICS workers are really going to be tied up, so am scared the backlogs are going to get worse and they try to suspend the processing of applications.altogether. As an immigration Lawyer can you shed some light on what this means for people like me and my husband currently waiting for a green card.

Well I did find one immigration related proposal in project 2025 intriguing, disbanding DHS, and creating a cabinet level agency that is just USCIS/ICE/CBP. All the stuff about building concentration camps to people while awaiting removal hearings was disturbing, but I have a difficult time imagining it would ever really be done. The amount of resources it would require are beyond astronomical. They call for an expansion of ICE to be expanded to 20,000 officers, 5,000 prosecutors, and a daily capacity of 100,000 beds in their detention centers. But even those absurdly high figures are nowhere near high enough to actually manage to deport all people in the US illegally, and continually kick out those coming in. I don't think that's a realistic goal either.
