This is part 2 of a series on how I'm building an 8x8x8 RGB LED Cube.
This video demonstrates my method for straightening the Tinned Copper Wire, which is used for connecting the LED's together.

Note added 26th Sept 2020:
I have only just noticed that my articles on EETimes are no longer available. I contacted the Editor in chief that posted the articles and asked what had happened to them and he said that EETimes had technical issues when migrating a number of articles to new systems, and that they have made no effort to re-instate them. This happened a while ago apparently and I wasn't made aware until now. Therefore the original links are broken and I have had to remove them.

For info, 20 swg is the UK standard for wire size, as a posed to awg which is the American standard. The diameter of wire is slightly different between the 2 standards, but I can confirm that the 20 swg wire used in this project, I measured at 0.83mm diameter.

awesome!THX what is this wire?is it silver cooper wire?and how much tick is it?

Reza Shahsavary Hi, the wire is copper coated with tin/lead. It is 20 Standard Wire Gauge (swg, a UK wire size standard), which equates to a diameter of 0.914mm.

Hello, I got it on eBay, but that link is no longer available. I'd suggest searching eBay for Tinned Copper Wire 20swg. There seems to be several choices. Hope this helps!

Video good, music suxed. Hurt my ears. Rather you say something or explain wat you are doing. Just pull the wire.

Tom Gray Thanks for your frank comments and agree. It was an early video where I wasn’t confident to speak. I can’t redo it without losing all the views etc.

Tom Gray I did give some thought soon after making the 8x8x8 cube, but it is such a huge magnitude in the amount of work and cost, I decided not to.
