Excavation of the river valley is now complete; you can see where the future riverbanks and wetlands will be. The new river valley will be on average 100 metres wide. It will cut a kilometre-long path along Don Roadway and west across Cherry Street, ending in a new, renaturalized river mouth.
Here's what's new since the last construction update:
At the beginning, you can see the outline of the future river channel, and the finishes that will make up the riverbanks
At 0:13, the Cherry St. South bridge is now in place, and the future alignment of Cherry Street is highlighted
At 0:20, you can see the excavation for Canoe Cove
At 1:43, you can see the excavation underneath the Commissioners St. Bridge
At 1:59, you can see the start of excavation in the Sediment and Debris Management Area, as well as the removal of half of the Lake Shore Bridge over the Don River
At 2:20, you can see that the deck has been poured for the Commissioners St. Bridge
At 2:55, you can see the main river channel, and where the wetland will go on the south side of the river

Filling the river valley with water will be a slow and controlled process. If we decide to hold some kind of event, it would be included in our monthly newsletter. You can subscribe here: www.waterfrontoronto.ca/contact-us

We’ve taken the construction timetable video down for now because we’re working on an updated one and will post it once available. Please let us know if you are looking for any specific information, we’d be happy to answer any questions you have.

Awesome progress! I wonder if there will be any areas dedicated for canoe or kayak rentals to allow people to enjoy the river valley and connected waterways without the high upfront investment.

I like this project, but it's coming along way too slowly.
