My right eye spherical number 5.50 cylinder power 1.50 and left eye spherical number 4.50 and cylinder numbers 1.00 what contact lens do i get?

Thanks for the video! I have a few questions: 1. In the formula you are using a vertex distance, but a contact lens has an internal surface and an external surface, so I think that there are two vertex distances. However, the distance between the surfaces is too small. With this in mind, are you considering the contact lens as an unique surface? 2. Respect to the cylinder calculation, it is indistinct if the toric surface is internal or external?

Even though normal vertex distance is 12 mm (much greater than CL thickness), it's impact is significant when spectacles power is 4D or more. So CL thickness is not a significant factor. For Toric also calculation is same but we choose Front, back or Bi-toric based on the types of Astigmatism patients have. Front toric for internal Astigmatism, Back toric for Corneal Astigmatism, Bi-toric for high degree Austin

Your question is wrong. There is no contact lens having -0.65D power. It will be either -0.50 or -0.75.

in case of contact lenses if i have -.5 cylindrical power and -1.75 spherical power can i use -2 spherical power contact lenses? axis 180

Your question is not designed correctly.... 5D cylinder power is not possible to correct with any spherical contact lens. You have to try with Toric contact lens

@@optometry-with-samir But sir for toric lenses i must have a - 0.75 minimum cylindrical power, whereas i have only - 0.5 cylindrical power and - 1.75 spherical power. So in that case can i not use an equivalent of -2 spherical power and 0 cylindrical powered lens?

For Toric we have to distribute the power meridian wise then have to calculate the power in both meridian. Then again we have to write it onto Sphero-Cylinder format. Watch the video again

I have -0.75 sph on both eyes and -1.50 cyl on left eye with 92 axis and -2.50 cyl on right eye with 90 axis. What will be my contact lens powers? Please let me know doc. I can't get this right.

✓If you go for soft contact lens then you need Toric Soft Contact Lens with power: RE: -0.75 /-2.25 x 90° LE: -0.75 / -1.25 x 90° ✓If you go for RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable) lens then spherical RGP with power -0.75DS may correct your Refractive error but you need go for trial. Note: Ideally, contact lens power should be finalized with trial lenses and needs more data like: Base Curve of Cornea, HVID, pupil size etc. This power conversion is based on theoretical formula and may not suitable for you. Better to consult with an Optometrist.

Same power... Below 4D power there is no need to calculate the contact lens power.

my doctor said +0.75 glasses equal to +1 contact lense. but i do this math and i get 0.7585 at the end, what did i miss?

Less than 4 Diopter power there is no need of changing power. You can use +0.75D as contact lens power.

@@optometry-with-samir hmm my laser eye surgeon said +0.75 glasse = +1 contact. maybe because for laser eye surgery need different calculation.

@@optometry-with-samir in the past i used +0.75 glasse, now i use +1 contact for test it before surgery and i feel its even weaker that my +0.75 glasse, it feels like +0.5 thats why im asking :)

@@wearetheborg Nope it's same for all.... But whether you wear +0.75 or +1.0 your vision won't be affected. Note: For plus power over correction is recommended... So you can go for +1.0.
