What Mahle refuses to say is how it compares to their old X35 which has a 40Nm, while the X20 has a torque of 23Nm !!! Tried to have more clarity from Mahle but they keep avoid to answer with facts/numbers. Just be aware of that as they trying to sell less efficient motors as better ones...

The Mahle X20 is fantastic, small, and compact. I would love to see Brompton use this motor on their folding bikes.

Tank you very much for this video. Can you see on Gamin / Wahoo all data that you can see on the Pulsar One? Would you have a list of devices and its capabilities (e.g. you mention that only on the Garmin 1030 you can switch the drive mode).

Most data is available on these like the Pulsar, but the only devices compatible are the Edge 1030 and 840.

Its possibile to replace the x35 with the x20 system from my 3t exploro boost?

Not currently. The frame's dropouts are different between an X35 and X20, and that will make things difficult. Also unsure as to whether or not the controllers are compatible with one another; Exploro Boost's controller is built into the frame.

Hi, did the MAHLE X20 arrived like an upgrade to an exhistent bike with X35 ?

It's not an upgrade that fits on current X35 bikes sadly. The battery shape and BB shape is a little deferent, along with a different rear drop out to accommodate the new plug system. It only will be on bikes made to be used with a X20 system in the first place.

Hi There! Not all Orbea Gains will receive the X20. As of now it is just the carbon frame model that will receive X20. Alloy models will continue with Mahle X35.

How does it compare to the TQ HPR50?

They are pretty different on drop bar bikes, The Mahle will feel a little more natural and assist you to 20 mph, but the TQ will give you more of a kick and allow assist up to 28 mph.

How can you knock your knees on a battery that is behind your feet

The range extender sticks out on the sides wider than your standard bottle, so depending on your pedal stroke, cleat placement, and leg size you could hit your leg on the downstroke pedal. It doesn't happen often, but I have had it happen. Just enough to make a slimmer extender a welcome change.

That's a great point. We have found that this one assists better because it is more natural feeling. It has less top-end torque, but in terms of assist and power the motor works well to get you up to speed. It also has a smaller hub body for the motor, and it is a more efficient system.

I bought an origine electric gravel bike equipped with Mahle x20 four months ago. Since the beginning, only problems and malfunctions. I have to send back the bike a second time to the manufacturer and they will change all Mahle components. Not reliable

Your getting a small battery because it’s cheaper. More charge cycles mean less life . I hope the gain comes with a larger battery

I wouldn't say battery size has a direct correlation with cost. Even still, the battery size isn't all that different from the X35-equipped bikes, and the physical size is small enough that these e-bikes can actually be visually appealing.

Gain will have a range extender at the very least available.

New Orbea Gain has a 350wh battery, so much better range on them, I just hope the extra weight doesn't affect them too much
