In Excel, you can use the conditional formatting to highlight one or more cells, based on rules. In this example, winning lottery numbers are entered on a worksheet. The numbers from our purchased tickets are also on the worksheet. A conditional formatting rule is set up, to colour the cells where the ticket numbers are found in the list of winning numbers. This formatting makes it much easier to check our tickets, and see how many winning numbers we have.

How do I highlight the winning ticket under different condition, like one colour for those that got 5 numbers and a different one for those that only got 4

You'll have to set up a separate rule for each colour. In the rule's formula, check for a specific count, instead of ">1". For example: =COUNTIF($C$3:$H$3,C6)=4

How do i get it to highlight the number of a pick 4 if it's not in the same order, aka boxed? I can only get it to highligh if it's a straight hit.

Thank you for this but how can I do this in reverse where it checks the numbers but highlights the other set if a match is found

You're welcome, and to highlight the numbers that weren't found, change the conditional formatting to this: =COUNTIF($C$3:$H$3,C6)=0

FYI: I've only managed to use the formula with a semicolon within my table: =COUNTIF($B$1:$G$1;B3)>=1 otherwise, i got the error, that the formula is wrong. Using office 2013 with the latest service packs and updates.
