Thanks for your time and effort to help people take the task of assembling this machine 👍🏽 a little of my experience filling the reservoir with the hydraulic fluid, taking the 3 screws off of the filling neck (strainer) fill and put it back. Thank you 🙏🏽 God bless 🙌 🙏🏽

Thanks for this. I referred to it while building mine. I had many of the same issues as you from uncrating to assembly. I'm about to add the hydraulic fluid; tag on the vent cap says the system holds three gallons so I have that to go on for reference at least. Your experience? Thanks again, I plan to watch your other vids about actually using this machine. My rock grabber should be here today! Yes, I'm stoked.

@@okcdan69 I'm excited for you! Glad I could help...I don't remember exact amount I put in, just remember it took forever to add the fluid. Thanks for watching. I should have another serious digging video soon....digging a storm shelter into a hill at my sisters.

@@Mr.Handy-ish So is the thermometer also actually a sight glass for the hyd. fluid? I put in three gallons, and things are working, but I'd like to know before putting this thing to work. Thanks!

@@okcdan69 I think so...question mark. That is my assumption. I didn't see a better explanation in the manual. Sorry I can't be more help 😒

Yeah! Impressed so far. Just got done with a trenching job (50ft at 14in depth). Thanks for the reminder...I also need to tighten up some nuts that have come loose.

How much hydraulic fluid did you end up putting in? I've put in 4.5 gallons and still don't see anything in the sight glass.

I'm trying to remember... I kept adding and adding. Can't remember how much it took... I don't think I added more than 4 gallons...but I don't even remember what it called for. Sorry I'm not much help.

Thank you for this video! Working on putting one of these together now while it’s about 35 out. I didn’t want to stand around and try to figure out what these terrible directions were trying to say.

Hi I am in the process of putting my trencher together. Did you use the HM46 oil and if so where did you find it and how much does it take? Thanks in advance, Ed C.

Yes. I got it at a Rural King store. Check around your local tractor/AG stores...exact amount I ended up putting in, I don't recall...I had to put it in slowwww. Took awhile 😲🤣

keep that engine covered when not in use, I've read a lot of complaints about water getting in through the exhaust

Sounds like some good advice! I've only left it out a couple times...a garbage bag works in a pinch to keep water out, but I try to get it into the barn. Thanks for watching and contributing!

It looks like you are having fun making the video and you have some really good help. I have yet to see someone video the delivery of one, or do you pick it up at the store? The whole delivery thing has me wondering if I need to rent a forklift to get it off a truck or what? Many videos about the Harbor Freight machine talk about the bucket failing and then welding it and reinforcing it, or sending it to a shop to have it fixed. Have you encountered bucket trouble? I enjoyed this video because you and your team work so well together.

Thank you! 1. I actually used this purchase as reasoning to buy pallet forks for my tractor. My delivery was a box truck with a lift gate that was able to work with the tractor to get the crate off the truck. This thing is about a thousand pounds. 2. I actually made a video or two showing/talking about breaking a weld on my bucket. I'll say I was pulling VERY hard on a large root with the bucket. The hydraulics are very powerful, and that means that you can certainly break things if you're not careful about pulling on things that WON'T come. Something has to give, right?

@@Mr.Handy-ish So, the mystery of taking delivery is solved, thank you. I'd have to coordinate a forklift rental with a delivery date.

We have a lot of heavy tan clay (not a dirt expert). I was impressed how it cut into the clay...and I didn't kill it on the rocks. I did pull a weld on the bucket on a root in another video 😒 My neighbor asked to borrow it, and I told him I'd prefer him to just borrow me with it. I wouldn't want him to wreck it somehow and feel bad or me be upset about it. There is a learning curve.

I ordered it by phone from Northern Tool in Minnesota. They can ship it to you, but ask about details. You may need a forklift or similar to get it off the truck.
