"Go Up" is a song recorded by SB19 itself, they released it on July 19, 2019, as the second single of their debut album Get in the Zone. It was written by Pablo. After the lukewarm reception of their debut single "Tilaluha", SB19 had almost decided to quit and go on separate ways. Josh shared reasons which is about how hard for performers in the country to earn money for a living as well as the stress in training. They dedicate everything they experienced on their second single "Go Up" which they described as their "last shot". Each of the members dedicated for whom they go up for: Justin goes up for himself first so that he can start helping others; Ken goes up for his goals; Stell said he goes up for his family because of their unending support; Josh goes up for himself sharing his terrible childhood history; Pablo go up for himself, family, and everyone who believes in him. The song was released first by the group before "Alab (Burning)" instead even it was already finished recording. After a couple of months being released, "Go Up" received very minimal reception and the group already decided to stop. However, on September 2, 2019, a fan posted the Dance practice video on Twitter and Facebook, promoting the group and saying that she "didn't feel any cringe at all" while listening to the song. Her post quickly gained traction, and after that, SB19 became viral giving them their career breakthrough.

Go Up is such a special song 😊 If you watched their interviews on how they started as a group (try Toni Talks with SB19) then you will feel the same way 😢 it was this song that made them slowly reach their dreams even tho at first no one paid any attention until a fan in twt uploaded their dance practice and it went viral 😭 they deserve it ❤

They decide to debut ballad genre since that genre is the most well loved by filipino masses, we're into ballads songs however even if they're good there are still greater balladeers at that time so it's really hard to make it.

I like your aproach to watch the official MV'S first for the English subs. Once you get the English translations the live performances will be more fun. As for Get in the Zone, it was their first album. They were managed by ShowBT a Filipino division of a Korean Company. Tilaluha was their debut chosen over Love Goes because it was sung in Tagalog. Sadly the MV featured Korean actors and was not received well. Today it's a treasured song. Go Up was their comeback but did not do well until they released the dance practice. It blew up on social media and put them in the spotlight! Hanggang Sa Huli, yes you said it right, is another favorite ballad and the MV was the creative result of Justin, the youngest members talents. This album felt very KPopish. The next EP Pagsibol begins their journey to develop their destinct gritty Filipino style. As for live performances: Tilaluha - Round Festival Love Goes/Go Up - KZfaq fanfest 2020 combined. Hanggang Sa Huli - TM Pusuan love show. The last song they don't really perform anymore. Keep doing the same format! Just a lil' comment on the last track, "Don't Wrinkle Your Forehead"--the boys wrote it to fit a specific music genre quite popular with the (Filipino) masses, especially among Southerners living in the countryside (and migrating to the big cities). It's called "Budots" or street party/ fiesta music for the barrios. Loud, campy, "kid-ish" and fairly cheap to produce in makeshift, garage-type studios--it's music for the very young to the very old, suited for community dancing. In South Korea it's called "Trot", or folksy dance music. Early SB19 music was almost deliberately recollective of the 90's, early 2000s, the era they grew up in amid a culture steeped into karaoke.

20:07 The reason they debuted with Tilaluha is because PPop wasn't well received back then, so they chose a song that is closer to most Filipinos' tastes. Ballads happen to be a long-time favorite of Filipinos. SB19 was the first PPop group that became widely known nationwide and worldwide, but they were not the first PPop group formed. Those older groups unfortunately suffered a huge backlash before they could show their talents. Back then, OPM (Original Filipino/Pinoy Music) was on the verge of a rennaisance. Besides KPop (which entered our radar around 2005 via KDramas), OPM was mostly comprised of love songs (often breakup songs) or power-vocal diva songs. There were meme songs and just enjoy-your time fun variety songs too, but when it comes to "favorites" it's always either a love song or a vocally challenging belting song. As the handover of roles between the older and newer generations came, other types of music were introduced and OPM took a nosedive when KPop became more widespread (this was also one of the reasons why Wish 107.5 was established by its founder--to revive OPM). OPM's revival came with the advent of artists like Ben & Ben who had a very different type of music, employing modern folk style, lyrics with deep messages, and calming and soothing tones, as if they were touching your soul. Underground hiphop also naturally became more accepted widely. Lastly, PPop ALSO attempted to enter the scene. There were a few groups who debuted but their reception was cold. A lot of it had to do with Filipinos gatekeeping OPM and KPop fans gatekeeping Pop. For groups that made huge efforts to bridge the gap in between, all they received were cruel remarks from both camps. "Not KPop-ish enough to be called Pop." "Not Filipino enough to be called OPM." "Looks too ugly to match KPop standards." "Looks too foreign to claim Filipino." Idk why they're looking at Korean beauty standards in a Pinoy group. Idk why they're saying it sounds too Korean when Pop music is just that--Pop music. Anyway, you get it. PPop collapsed before the group could even widely perform. Their wicks were dampened before they could make a spark. All of the above made SB19 apprehensive about their debut, given that the preceding groups suffered not only deficits, but hate from their fellow Filipinos. So they chose athe song Tilaluha which is closer to the Filipino sound--in fact, it is a very Filipino sound through and through, there are tons of similar Filipino ballads from even decades prior...but somehow some people still claim it's a copycat of KDrama OSTs. I swear, these kids only grew up with KPop and completely missed OPM's Golden Era. I can say that because I grew up with songs like Tilaluha playing on radios in a time where there was literally no internet yet. 😅 SB19's members are from my generation. Their experience of OPM and Filipino ballads similar to mine, making Tilaluha a very nostalgic song for me. Unfortunately, despite trying to appeal to the millennial Filipino tastes, Tilaluha still didn't take off due to the problem plaguing PPop that time. Obviously, the problem was not the song's beauty itself (it's a very beautiful song in Tagalog; no amount of translation can give justice to how poetic it is). The problem also does not lie in their talents (quite frankly, and objectively speaking, even for a newly-debut group, they already had plenty of talent to offer). The problem was the timing of their debut and the prejudice against PPop. However, all of that vanished in front of true art. Go Up dropped and while the MV itself didn't get any attention, its dance practice video went severely viral overnight after a Twitter user named Lyra tweeted their video. Their dance moves broke the presumption that Filipinos could never dance as good as KPop which is funny because Filipino dance cover groups have been dominating in competitions around Asia. In fact, SB19 Josh and Stell are from the same dance cover group that won internationally (and they got to personally meet BTS as a winners' perk). For me, I guess what dragged people's attention to the dance video was the simple fact that their energy and sincerity were very visible. It sent a message saying, "We're doing this for real, not just for funsies." There was no hesitation in their faces nor in their every step and movement. For a lot of the PPop groups before, a twinge of uncertainty can be seen on their faces (again because of how people snuffed out their light before they could even prove themselves). Luckily for SB19, they had the Korean idol training system which included honing their mindset, etiquette, and handling different uncomfortable situations (which proved very useful as SB19 had no shortage of it, what with the amount of disrespect they received and all). Their sincerity, effort, diligence and values are core ingredients of SB19 as well as the pillars of their success and fame. Their very humble (and very humbling) early years had forged them into the men you now see. The meaning behind the "SB" in "SB19" was "Sound Break" as in to break the barries surrounding preconceived notions about music and the Filipino sound. It also showed their intention: to break into the OPM scene and have PPop be finally recognized. The reason why the title of the first album was "Get in the Zone" is that not only is this their de-facto intro (it evolves with every album, actually), but the title also meant 2 things: One is "Getting in the zone," as in doing what you do best and not letting anyone stop you; and another is trying to get in the zone where elites stand and be recognized as the great artists that they are. In this album, they were still "getting in" the zone. Later after this, they would be saying "Now in the zone."

I too was one to not go for live performances and prefer MV's as usually the MV's are more entertaining and higher sound quality. That is until I heard SB19 which is rare and usual to sound even better live. Philippines OPM is actually better live hard to believe which SB19 is just 1 of many. Korean Round festival 2021 live performance of them is my favorite and I suggest it for your list to react.. they sound great there.. they performed 5 songs.

They also have an unreleased practice of this song before they did their wish bus performance with raw vocals 22:52

Best way to watch them is thru their live performance in concert (wish bus, concert, or tv shows), if there was no english sub in wish through their lyric video. All their ballad are so heartful and most of their songs were coming from their own life story.

In this first album, they were very much under the control of ShowBT Ent. They did not have much freedom except Pablo wrote or at least help write all the lyrics. In the next ep Pagsibol (English- sprouting/growing), the boys invested some of their own money into it so that they are credited as producers and therefore had some more freedom with the music, MV, vibes, and overall package. Then in their latest ep Pagtatag (English- establishing/strengthening), they had left ShowBT and started their own company 1Z Ent. So of course at that point, they had complete freedom to release exactly what they wanted to. So the music is much more accurate in representing them as who they really are as a group.

Ken is the swag eternal thus the chosen main dancer and dubbed “ pambansang gwapo” much like Jin of BTs’ world wide handsome 😊 andd Josh is the common denominator of the group who have scouted Ken and Justin , long time friend and group member of a dance troupe, longest to train with Pablo in their old company .

You are the only reactor I watch that has a very long intro in every song. But love the support you are giving to the boys. By the way, Filipino likes ballad song so that is the reason why they chose Tilaluha instead of the usual hyper song as their debut song since PPOP is not acceptable in mainstream.
