I'm a bit late to the party here but as I am studying for my law Alevels in a few days, I just wanted to amend: although Jones V Padavatton [1969] did hold an ICLR, the mother later appealed and was successful in arguing that there was in fact no ICLR as "the lack of formality regarding the agreement showed there was no intention", and thus Jones V Padavatton showed that it was purely a family agreement, with no contract.

Fantastic like every time! I start my course next week and should watch these videos all together. I just have a question. In my assignments, they say that I need to use some ‘wider theories’. Do you know, by any chance, what do they mean by this and how can I answer that part? :)

That mostly means using the work of academics. Hopefully you will have access to research tools while on the course and can use these to improve your answers!

May i ask what is specifically different between Simpkins v Pays and Wilson v Burnett which means that Simpkins was allowed their share of the money, but Wilson was not?
