These are always so inspiring. Everytime I use contrast it looks like someone sneezed on my models but even that first pass on the cloak looked amazing.

I experimented with seraphim sepia on a stormcast before I get the box but it came out streaky with a lot of coffee stains. It looked nothing like your great work, guess I put to much on my brush and didn't spread it enough.

@warhipster Thanks was looking forward to this one.. I commented on you HH death guard vid the other day, and i did a test model, and i can agree with what you said, so going forward ill use this method for my DAngels and Im currently using you death guard scheme for my Nids of which i have 200 odd to paint, that method is super fast to do them, cheers

I just wanted to ask, why the sepia change from 5-1 skeleton horde for the armour and same again for the cloak, For your previous deathwing termi, you used a warpstone lighting and then some other colours. Just looking for an explanation and thoughts.

Ultimately new Seraphim Sepia and thinned down Skeleton Horde look the same. So the switch there is because it’s a lot easier to do and the recipe is a lot more simple that way. Belial’s cloak is a darker colour than his tabard and so that’s why that one is different and ultimately for the Tabard I also wanted to simplify and speed up the process of painting him for you guys. Both recipes work of course but if you don’t want to do as much mixing this one is a lot quicker!

@@Warhipster Back in the hobby for about a year and a half - and only now I realize this... GW has re-worked the washes? That explains why I was wondering when I compared Seraphim Sepia to the Skeleton Horde mix and Seraphim Sepia turned out slightly more "purplish". Does that mean they re-worked all washes? I bought a relatively old colour starter kit when I re-started with the tall wash pots in it. So I'll have to replace those?

How does the 6:1 contrast Medium work exactly??? I'm trying out contrast paint soon with the deathwing box but I normies use base citadel pots.

Love Ur work mate. This model is sick. I want to ask, when u always do 1 part this 2 part that. Do u do this on a water pallet? Or normal? I'm starting this model tonite using Ur method so if u could answer back that be fantastic. Keep up the good work

Hello Warhipter, when you make your mix, where do you put it? I experience it to dry so fast i have to do mixs like almost on everytime that i take paint on my brush... thanks

Amazing work. Was always curious why you use Wraithbone as apposed to White Scar White, as primer?

I think seraphim sepia shade won't be that good to make a beige color with white scar primer I may be wrong

Maybe. Warhipster appears to use wraithbone on other paint jobs too, so I'm curious if its something worth replicating when following this guide. @@deadlyfear13

Paints list says wraithbone :) it will be the red highlighted color at bottom of 2nd page always :)

I'm curious, why do you use Lahmian Medium instead of Contrast medium? Wouldn't that improve the flow of the contrast paint even more? Either way, love the video, keep up the awesome work! I look forward to seeing you on Tabletop Tactics again soon :)

It does indeed improve the flow of Contrast Paint just as well but what Lahmian Medium does is give it a more Traditional Shade Paint feel. It starts to act more like a Shade or a Thinned down Base or Layer paint rather than creating more thinner Contrast Paint. When it comes to paints like Dark Angels Green or Cygor Brown or Shyish Purple for example the best way to describe is they have a bit of a goopy feel rather than a watery feel. The Lahmian brings them closer to water than to the goop does that make sense?

@@Warhipster It does make sense! Never thought of it that way, to be honest, my biggest gripe about Dark Angels Green has always been that it's a bit splotchy and too dark... I find a 50/50 mix with Contrast Medium gives me much better coverage and a nicer color, but I'll definitely need to try this with Lahmian next time.

Hey, warhipster Please could i ask a question? Ive been following your tutorials for the Leviathan boxset & tried the contrast paints. Ive found once the paint has sat 24 hours its still very delicate & easily chips with handling. Do you varnish your models at all once painted? Cheers Si

Hmmmm that’s interesting I find usually that it shouldn’t do that as I don’t tend to varnish my models no. That being said there are some great Matt varnishes out there even the Citadel ones are pretty good. Just be careful with any that come from a spray can as they can be a bit temperamental. If I have to varnish something like a transfer or something like that I’ve found stormshield from the pot is very good!
