There are many great tutorials out there, but in terms of how well you communicate HOW to paint it, and in terms of results achieved and skills explained, this is one of THE BEST painting tutorials I’ve seen. I rarely comment or like on videos, but wow! Had a lot of trouble getting my white scars looking perfect, and the methods shown here really helped! Keep doing what you’re doing mate! Many thanks, from someone who buys way too much Warhammer.

This video inspired me to create a chapter of my own, both for fluff and to play on the tabletop using a similar white setup with blue instead of red for the accents. Seeing how easy it was to use contrast paints helped up my game some with painting, making it easier on my given I have nerve damage in my dominant hand, making painting a bit of a tosser to do at times. For some reason contrasts feel so much easier for me to work with, but perhaps that lends itself to not needing to bother overmuch with proper thinning, even coats for darker paint schemes and so on. You have no idea how much this video helped me break out of that anxiety of painting. Hopefully this scheme works out well enough for things like tanks and dreadnaughts, because my army has a couple of each of those too. Cheers mate!

That's really awesome to hear buddy! Blue sounds very interesting and definitely very cool I like it a lot! You're an absolute hero to keep soldiering on with the painting with nerve damage and that. I can't imagine something like that happening to me I really sympathise. Keep on going with it and if there's anything that's in my power to paint and show off for you do let me know and I'll add it to the list of things to do!

@@Warhipster you are a legend mate, nice one! And may I add an absolutely amazing painter sir. I am a grimdark fiend and many of my forgeworld pieces are as battle damaged and bloody as a ww2 panzer tank! I always add flashes of clean panels to bring some pop to the piece, but white armor? Especially white scars, or world eaters, for me always would realistically have not the cleanest look so this will be perfect for my kharn model.

@@WarhipsterI have read every Horus heresy book, I just imagine most of the legions to be quite brutal looking tbh, campaigns of battle damage white is hard to acheive without getting them to look like Death Guard. I have been practicing today using some primaris. I basically did same method you have, I used grey primer, but I added a zenithal white one from angle they are posing in...applied the apothocary white(which is marvelous may I add for people like me who hate painting white haha), mixed 2 parts a/w to 1 part medium. Well happy sir, as I said this is going to make kharn way easier...any way I can send ya results? Just finished perturabo also which I am well happy with. Love Forge World 👊👍🧐

if i paint the whole mini in the corax white part and i shade the recesses with lets say space wolves grey later is it gonna be okay?Its hard for me to paint white and avoid the recesses altogether in one part because im new so i was wondering if using another contrast paint to shade the recesses gonna be okay with this painting technique!
@Warhipster

That would be absolutely fine! Even just using Apothecary White in the recesses will work! Depends on what kind of colour you want the ‘shade’ to be. Bluish or greyish!

This is a very clean parade ready version. How would you do a dirty, grimy, damaged version. I'm doing a white templar army that is on constant crusade and in much need of some RnR. Also, subbed
@Warhipster
@Warhipster 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the Sub! Well I think with the White armoured guys some times the battle damage needs to be almost as precise as the ivory white scheme it self. I'd effectively use Cygor Brown to add some chips and scratches, I'd use a little bit of black templar with a stipple brush to add some scuffs and dirt etc. And if you want to go the extra mile in terms of weathering I'd use something like a Fyreslayer Flesh or an Aggaros dunes thinned down to add some grime around rivets and in the occasional recess.... I smell a video here...

It can be, the only issue with the White Primer is that it's difficult to go up from there as the Apothecary White is quite subtle when you put it on grey seer anyway

Also can i use a vallejo white as an alternative and use the rest of the other paints as it is?
@Warhipster
@Warhipster 2 жыл бұрын
You certainly can use Vallejo White as an alternative! Apothecary White really does turn the model grayish. Effectively we use that paint to get the shading in and the White is the true colour. You could use Apothecary White as a recess shade for a similar effect.
@jackcrossems
@jackcrossems 3 жыл бұрын
Why don't you put the black on first? That way you can clean up and the apothecary white and the glaze wont make as big a mess on black as black would on white

You could definitely do it like that and it would be a great way of reducing the risk of making a mess!

For some reason my corax white doesnr have nearly the same level of coverage as yours and i only did mine down to about 1 part paint to 3 parts water. Any idea whats happening? Should i not be trying to apply thin layers? It appears as though you only needed 1 layer and its significantly more thinned down than the one i tried.... ideas??
@Warhipster
@Warhipster 3 жыл бұрын
It could be that Corax White you’ve got may be thicker than the one I have - paints like white that have a high pigment count are notoriously fickle like that.
@2Infinit2
@2Infinit2 3 жыл бұрын
@@Warhipster thicker or thinner? Cause i thinned mine down less and it gets less coverage than yours... hmm
@Warhipster

When you say less coverage, do you mean it’s taking more coats to get the job done?
