This is actually a good idea. This would explain why Scar is so mad about not being king. He thought he was owed it, because of his bloodline. Actually a pretty good message that blood doesn’t matter. Mufasa was the more compassionate leader. Still skeptical of these “live action” Disney projects though.

Lion Guard does a good job understanding Mufasa's time as king. Scar lead the lion guard however used it for evil. Such a shame the Mufasa movie won't focus on any of their family.

So when Mufasa talks to Simba in the first movie he's referring to his adoptive dad who told him about the great kings of the past. There's literally no contradiction at all

He doesn’t have to have royal blood nessacarily to pass down this message after being accepted into the pride he could have still learned the history of the pride lands and the past kings. (I have heard that this movie might be making mufasa the first king and that would definitely contradict though) simba claiming his rightful place as king in my opinion had nothing to do with his lineage but more of his qualities that make him the true heir for the throne.

If I had to guess, it’ll most likely be that he would show the signs of a true leader and is then chosen as king rather than some sort of successor and maybe that’s how scar becomes so jealous

Wasn’t there a book in the 90s or early 2000s about Mufasa and Scar's backstory? Pretty sure Isaac Carlson or Seamus Gorman talked about it in a video a few years ago and it revealed that Scar is just a nickname, and said what his real name is. For it to make sense with Scar we need to understand how the hierarchy works. For example is the oldest the next heir for the throne ? Because for Mufasa to be King then Scar will needs to be born way later Mufasa's adoption. And so when Scar's learned that Mufasa is adopted he'll probably be jealous cuz Mufasa is not royal blood and then will try to off him like in "The tale of two brothers". But if Scar is already born wouldn't that actually make him the original heir to the throne ? Cuz, he has the royal blood. And so, for Mufasa to be king he would need to do like IRL Lions and fight Scar, which is something that would be out of Mufasa's character.

While I understand that this is a difrent timeline than the animated movie it’s still frustrating because this is probably the closest to a cannon past for mufasa and scar we will ever get and it crushes everything we know about their lives and makes scar more sympathetic than he needs to be and that waters down his character and villainy but that’s just my opinion I’m still going to watch it

The lion king cgi really kills the emotions, they aimed for hyper realism , which resulted in removing any micro expression they had from the original.. They managed to ruin the comedy. The iconic scenes. Iconic songs. And downplayed Mufasa’s death.. I remember clearly when Simba’s eyes were filled with terror when he saw the wilderbeast stampede.

Here's a theory of mine: When mufasa and scar were cubs they were orphaned without a drop of royal blood in them. They were adopted by rafiki who taught them about the Great kings of the past and that older ones inherent that role while the younger were chosen ones were chosen to be the lion guard scar was unhappy with this choice but he accepted it. After when scar got his scar was renamed scar, mufasa became king. When scar killed the last lion guard and Lost his roar he struck up a partnership with the hyenas, leading to the events of the lion king.

People need to learn about the actual lion kingdom here to understand what’s happening. Lions don’t inherit. Any males born get exiled and would eventually return and take the pride for themselves or start their own. As with Scar to Mufasa, and Simba to Scar. They are all great kings. This travels to humans as well. Not all kings were born equally. It’s those who rise up to level with the rest of the greats, who are the most worthy.

They’ll just have it as Mufasa getting adopted by Scars parents, who were the King and Queen of the Pride Lands, a few months before Scars birth. This will mean Mufasa becomes the next in line, creating Scars villain arc. They could have just done the reverse though. Have Scar be the one adopted into the royal family. He had a real messed up “childhood” before being taken in/adopted by Mufasa’s parents. Everyone knows Scar is a dick including Mufasa, but before their father (or mother) died, they made Mufasa promise to take care of Scar no matter what! To not abandon him, like Scars parents did to him. That’s why he doesn’t sleep with the other lions and instead has his own cave and stuff. Because Mufasa doesn’t want/trust him with the pride and cubs but promised to look after him.

Honestly this prequel might be cool. It didn’t like the remake really but this isn’t just a movie redone in different animation. It’s a new movie in the same world.

Passing down information and wisdom through generations. Yeah generations that just means the next generation. It was never stated that the wisdom had to come from a father to a son. It’s just one generation to another. Why are people complaining? The film isn’t even out yet. We know nothing about how this affects anything. And it barely changes anything.
