The National Archives Foundation honored Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Ron Chernow; Tony and Emmy Award-winning film and theater director Thomas Kail; and Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, lyricist, and performer Lin-Manuel Miranda with its 2016 Records of Achievement Award at its annual Gala on September 25, 2016.
During the program, the honorees discuss going through Hamilton archives, the process of translating the records into the musical, and the stories of Hamilton's life that they wish they could have incorporated into the show.
The Records of Achievement Award honors their collective work on the Tony, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize Award-winning Broadway musical “Hamilton,” inspired by the 2004 biography of Alexander Hamilton by Mr. Chernow. The Broadway musical was directed by Mr. Kail, and was written by and stars Mr. Miranda.

"Yo, lets roll up on Benedict Arnold's house and get him!"-Alexander Hamilton, probably, as said by Lin XD And what they said about the kids made me tear up, kids/teenagers need more credit about what they can do when passionate and what they can comprehend, it's so easy to say kids are just glued to their phones and aimless but if they find something to aim for its amazing.

I’m a little late to the party. My son introduced me to the Hamilton soundtrack in 2019. He made me listen to the entire performance as we drove across the country for his music audition, the winter of his freshman year of college. I was not in the mood for rap music and struggled to follow along. He paused and explained parts quite often. I couldn’t appreciate it at that time. When it was released on Disney+, we watched as a family. That’s when I fell in love with the play. Since then, I cannot get enough. Lin Manuel Miranda mentioned the dense lyrics. He is so right. so much packed in each line. Every time I watch or listen, I hear something new that I must re-search. Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote a masterpiece. He even inspired me to read Ron Chernow’s biography, that inspired LMM. The biography is so well written. I’m ready to read Washington’s biography from Ron next. I appreciate how this masterpiece of a musical has reignited my curiosities of our history.

am I the only one that, any time they would speak, I would feel this ultimate need to listen to them, a need to listen to the words of wisdom and everything they’re saying. and listening to all the inspirational words, and all the things they say and everything it’s just so much and so fast and I wish I had been around when it was all big. But now i sit here and listen to it all.

For the Young people moved by this Musical, google the ages of the founding fathers in 7/4/1776. Hamilton was 21. This country was founded by idealistic but driven YOUNG adults. And for the 60-80 year-olds watching this, google the ages of the founding fathers. I bet the same things were said about them in the day by their elders that Are said about millennials now (minus the cell phone technology). But look who founded this country.

The play, mainly the soundtrack, is great. Hamilton himself is not all that great and without Washington ‘on his side’ he wasn’t much. Almost no one liked him and I don’t see him as a great thinker. Miranda apparently considered other figures (such as Lincoln) and settled on Hamilton when realizing they were being done by others, etc. And the second half of the play is markedly not as interesting or good as the first half. But the soundtrack overall is great on its own.
