Everything you need to convert your shop vac into a professional extractor. I have had my Ridgid portable Vac for a long time and have been asked this question a million times. Can you use a shop vac to extract carpet during auto detailing. The answer is yes kind of. In order to extract a carpet or interior fabrics effectively you need a water source to lightly spray the fabric while you vacuum it out. This water is sprayed in a precise area and amount based on the conditions. You need to be able to see what is being removed from the fabric through the clear viewing area on the extractor handle. This view tells you if the fabric still has either dirt or soap still in it and you can decide how much longer to continue in that spot. The attachment and the water spraying ability will make or break the process. I decided after watching a few videos and doing some research that it would be a great plan to convert my shop vac to have this ability. With the proper fittings and products your shop vac can be easily converted to a very usable auto detailing extractor or carpet spot cleaner. I have listed below all the parts and accessories that you will need to complete this project. This is a great auto detailing extractor kit that I like a lot. If you have any questions please feel free to ask in the comments. Thanks for watching and I hope you consider subscribing to my channel.

My dude! You probably just saved me thousands of dollars 🤘 I'm a house cleaner that just started getting into very low moisture VLM carpet cleaning and floor cleaning, I think a rig like this would work perfect as I run my business out of my Prius. I have a carpet cleaning friend that told me about getting a six horsepower Plus shop vac for extraction on tile and grout and other applications for carpet and upholstery cleaning etc, apparently that has enough suction to make everything happen so a set up like this in addition to that would be perfect! Totally portable to compared to the professional "portable" extractors. I know they have separate water heating units as well so I could totally add one of those on in the future as well, but for now something like this would be totally good for rinsing and extraction 🦾 thanks!!

I love the idea of converting my Shop Vac into a shampooer / extractor. The thing I like the most is both of my shop vacs are over 20 years old and I can transfer it to another when / if it breaks. I have been using an IK sprayer to spray the carpet with carpet bomber and water in a spray bottle to rinse the carpet. It works but is definitely slower.

So Awesome! I wish I saw something like this a long time ago. I made due with a jank setup before buying the bissell pro, Having use the Bissell spot pro for two years I got sick of it. It sucks, yes it does the job but man its rough. I just bought the aqua pro vac and it is sweet, that aside I would take doing this over the bissell pro any day. What is even cool with this is you can buy a second vac hose and easy swap from vac to extract or to work more cleanly just get a 2nd rigid vac and you are golden! Great content! p.s. the hart 3n1 isn't to shabby either.

I love this setup. On tough jobs I had an issue not being able to use hot water though. So I found a cheap easy solution. I used a weed sprayer but any container that holds water and pressure will work. I didn't want to pump the bottle for pressure all the time. I Installed a shrader valve with male threads to the bottle and secured it with a washer, nut and rtv to seal. Hooked up my $50 Ryobi tire inflator that kicks on and off at desired psi and it works like a dream.🙌 Cold water is good for most jobs but is nice to have the option for hot water when needed.

Love the idea, I’m definitely gonna use the hose sock though, that would look way more aesthetically pleasing! Gonna take it a step further though, hear me out! Get a fitting to connect the end of your kobrajet hose to draw your water feed from. You can simply turn the water on to your pressure washer wall install and then leave the pressure washer in the off position. So you can get standard water pressure and not have to tap the garden hose! Then you can trim down the long air hose to make the whole unit easier to store away etc. Just pull it out, plug in power, take the pressure washer gun off and plug your hose into the extractor and off ya go! I just need to find an adapter to go from 1/4 to 3/8 so we can adapt the extractor hose to the pressure washer hose. 🤙🏼

You can get the orange model of this vacuum, that has wheels, for like 90-100$, and it regularly goes on sale. Also, there used to be an amazing deal on a wal-mart shop-vac that had its own built in water tank, with its own handle and nozzle. Hart brand 5.5hp 6-gallon. quite a bit bigger, but I picked mine up for like 50$ on sale. It works quite well. I think they normally go for about 150$.

The MyTee hand held extraction tool and other MyTee products are now shown on Amazon as "currently unavailable". This looks like a great system. I've had a Bissell Green Machine and the automotive version of that machine, but they do lack suction power to pull the dirt and pull the water to reduce drying time. Even as a homeowner, I've got three family vehicles that need cleaning a few times a year, couches and upholstered chairs, small throw rugs and general cleanups. With the 6.5 HP Ridgid vacuum I already have, this alternative is worth the investment for a more professional clean.

An additional connection to mate with a kitchen or laundry tub faucet will also provide you will hot water to further improve the cleaning process.

Excellent video and idea. I've actually been conisdering getting an extractor and this video randomly popped up on my feed. While I like the idea, I do think this might cost more than just getting the bissell I was looking at.

It’s more than the bissell but arguably a much more robust kit in many ways. I have both. Thanks for watching

I saw this week more videos around KZfaq about make a “professional estractor with a shop vacuum” they are all the same, my opinion is if you want a professional extractor that’s not for you, because you are using regular water, The advantage of the professional extractor is that you can use the necessary chemicals mixed with hot or cold water ( not only plain water) and that is what cleans, it does not matter if you previously spray the seat or the carpet with the foam cannon if you do not after remove that cleaning product with another appropriate chemical that extracts it (rinse fiber) so that the fiber does not become rigid and take on a bad smell, if you only use water it leaves a bad smell, especially on carpets, here in Las Vegas I got many jobs, because some guys do this job poorly and the carpet and seats stink of rot when they're drying

Planning to buy a wet/dry vac as soon as my extractor wand is delivered. One of the things i found out is that by using tap water which are not distilled has a higher chance of causing water stains to fabrics. you can also hook up the water sprayer into a light pressured water like pump sprayer or adjustable pressure sprayer.

I’ve thought about this as well, I’m hoping the RV water filters that screw onto the hose outlet will take care of Most of this
@fuuraa4765

@@PolishedMobileDetailing503 water filtering and distilling are different things. distilled water seperates the water itself from other stuff thats mixed into the water and water filtering just filters the stuff that is dangerous for human consumption. filtered water still has some minerals in it that may cause stain to the fabrics. my best bet for faster production is to just buy distilled water or do it your own if you have the budget for it. for me im just buying liters of distilled water and since im using a pump sprayer i can just dump the water into the sprayer

Hey after watching your vid I put together one finally. After a couple uses i realized it would be much better handling of the hoses if I thru in a quick disconnect at the same spot the vacuum hose attaches to the vacuum. So on my 50 ft 1/4 " airline I cut it at 9 ft I believe and put a quick disconnect so the vacuum hose and attached air hose winds up together and I don't have to fight 50' or kinking hose when I'm picking up or setting up. Just connect or disconnect and wind it up neatly and go. Also I found a swivel cuff that makes a comfortable difference compared to the non swivel 1.5 x 1.5 you use. You don't have to fight the twist of the vacuum hose as your working.
