I think that this video could be misleading because it doesn’t point out that your moulding is identical on the inside and outside of the frame so the door will still fit (and close)properly even when you flip and slightly move the hinges so they open the other way. Many door mouldings aren’t like that. Also you show how to put on bigger hinges for about half the video, which is irrelevant and confusing because it implies you need new hinges. You skip the part where you make a new hole for the locking mechanism to go into on the frame entirely. I bet some people will watch this, then go out and look for “outside opening hinges”, come back with something, fit them to the door jam then realize the door won’t close properly because the door frame is only designed to stop the door on one side, and it’s possibly too shallow for the thickness of the door or to bore out the hole for the locking mechanism to fit into.

my door does not have the same structure on the other side . ( i mean the other side is not mirror copy of this side ) can i still do it . i hope i made myself clear .

Am I the only one that is wondering if there isn't a part kf the door jam that needs to be adjusted so the door actually can go the other way?

This method makes little sense when by simply reversing the door frame the problem is correctly solved as if that had been the case all along. Simply remove the hinge pins and remove the door, then carefully remove the casing trim with a flat pry bar, then use a reciprocating saw "with a metal cutting blade" to cut through the brads holding the door frame to the studs on either side, then you can easily rotate the door frame and re-shim it to a proper fit, drive in new brads "you can reuse the same holes in the frame if you slightly drive out the brad remnants with a counter sink prior to carefully extracting them", then just re-fit the casing trim, and you're done. I just did this yesterday and the door can be closed with the touch of a finger. A few brads and a little shim stock are all the parts required to properly complete the task, with no patching involved.

Thanks for this video! Exactly what I’m trying to do. Question. The “stop molding” on my current setup is at approx. 1-1/4” deep. On the opposite side, it is approx 2” deep. Basically, the stop molding is not centered in the jamb. Any recommendations on what to do to have the door shut correctly, so it is flush with the frame. Thanks in advance

Hi! Great Video! Could you explain the process of "trial fits" to determine placement of hinge on door frame? (3:35). Did you attach hinge to door frame, put both sides of hinge together with the pin, held door in place (shims at bottom?), mark one hole in frame, attach hinge to frame with one screw, then swing door to check the fit? For bottom location simply mark holes as the top hinge was the one used for placement. Or am I way over complicating it? Thanks!!

I would so love to do that if I wasn't renting. My bathroom is so small even if you wanted to keep the door open ( if you were alone ) it's almost impossible to sit on the toilet. The door opens within a 1/4 inch of the toilet bowl!!🤦
