CONVERTING 4L80E 2WD TO 4WD FOR FREE

This is a quick easy way to convert a 4l80 to work with a 4wd set up!
tools needed
-hand tools
-cut off wheel
-flapper disk
-grinder
-tape measure.

Why did you cut anything off the t-case you only needed to shorten the transmission output shaft

He wanted to maintain maximum overlap between the two for strength OE has 2 inch overlap, if he cut it all from the output he would be left with under 2 inches of mating surface

This worked thank you we were scared at first cause it wouldn’t start then towed it to shop and they said it was a knock sensor or something like that and they changed it .. truck fired right up but wouldn’t move so we doubted it worked… then we forgot it needed fluid so we filled her up and she drives normal again… thank you

Instead of shortening the t case. Why not take more off the shaft?

i was wondering that too, but i think the tcase external shaft was gonna be too long also and bottom out on the trans splines where they stop and go to a cone shape. you can kinda see it at 7:37 when he puts them together without the 4wd tail spacer. i think he didnt explain that part well?

Basically, If I mod a 4L80e to fit a NP208 transfer case will it be possible to use it with a NP205 transfer case ?

As long is it’s the same spine count and bolt pattern. I’d do a little research as to what the measurements r like between the l80 output shaft and tcase input length are. As long as they r the same or VERY close, I’d imagine it would work fine

I have the same issue need a 4x4 tranny and i got the 2wd at the pick and pull . I wanted to keep the original to the engine and realized i need a 4x4 for my appication. The truck i pulled is a 2008 and wondering if a 2004 4x4 tranny fit with the 2008 computer

You have a list of tools needed but, don't say what type of hand tools I will need for this job? Can I use your flat head screwdriver?

I’m sorry berg this should be easy to figure out what hand tools are needed. But I understand if you can’t figure it out on your own. Maybe hire some one to do it for you?
