We're back at it again, this time we're converting a 40' school bus into our dream home on wheels for our growing family of 3 (plus 2 dogs).
We're not new to converting a bus, but we have learned how to make the process better and more enjoyable along the way.
We intend to implement 5 years of nomad knowledge into our build making sure this bus is the nicest, most functional, comfortable, and safest we can make it for our on-the-road family.

I’m not kidding, of all the bus builds I’ve watched on KZfaq, I always thought Tio was the best floor plan. The L-shaped kitchen, with a hallway on the side, gives so much more room for bathrooms, etc. I’m curious to see what changes you make on your new build. I will likely steal some of your ideas. My 12 window Thomas w 5.9 Cummins is waiting.

I️ wish I️ watched this yesterday. We both were clenching our jaws so much during our build we had to stop and take a nap 😂. Crazy amount of work you guys got done!😊

Man this is going to be cool ! As for the wheelchair ramp, Would be soo cool if you could convert it into a deck,,Maaybe have extra sides that could fold in ?? lol Would be cool and ive never seeen one done.

If you have an underbelly storage. One persons can hold the nut in the underbelly while the other person loosens the bold inside. Once we figured that out it saved so much time. You can do it for the ones you can reach under the bus but the gas tank got in the way for a lot of them.

Make yourself a shop air filter system with one of those $10 walmart 20" box fans and a 20x20 furnace filter attached to the back of it. Then run it to help draw the dust from your work and filter the air. Makes a world of difference and it's super cheap. If you wanna get fancy find an HVAC shop and get a 20x20 furnace filter housing to attach

Funny enough, Chase surprised himself, and me, last week when a massive box showed up and it happened to be a huge dust collector. Then more boxes showed up and they were extra lengths of hose and other things he said we really needed in the shop. Apparently a CNC was really needed too.

Hiiii! We're back! Isla gets to hang out with her Grandma on days where we're actively building. We take lunch and other breaks to spend time with her, but try to keep her away from the loud noises, irritants, and other harmful things involved in the deconstruction and build. She'll be in future videos of the build when we get to a point that it's safe to have her out there.

We're most definitely Lowe's people. I've always had great experiences at their stores. There are only ever a few things we have to go to HD for.

ok. I'm only at @4:44 but if you loosen the bolts and then put a pry bar under them and then pry up while the other person loosens the bolts, you'll be done in an hour! OK...now back to watching.

It's too late now, but you can break the bolts by tightening them with an impact wrench instead of loosening them. Snap, snap, snap.

You wouldn’t believe it, but we tried that after getting under the bus and trying to get one out from on top and below. All but one just spun, tightening or loosening. We employed every lesson we thought we learned from our first bus build removing seats.

We're keeping two of them for the shop, and two more potentially for the bus. The rest we've stacked for a guy locally who makes stuff with the metal. Our last bus we took them to a recycle center.

Use like a 5-10 pound weight...ya know like those dumbells everyone has laying around from good intentions. Then use a bungie to hook to a tripod to help weight and stabilize. Bonus then when you're not using the dumbells people see them and they will think you're so amazing and work out with them

Got a pretty good chuckle out of this, that was definitely needed. That's a great idea, plus with as often as we move the tripod we should actually be getting a little bit of a workout in, right? We've got some kettlebells somewhere that would work perfectly.

@@mariajoseandchase Hey I'm not gonna be the one to say you should be working out. Yep if you remember any physics from school. You can hang the weight low just off the floor/ground that keeps the center of gravity low and even less likely to get knocked. Attaching it high still leave more probability to get knocked. But any weight is better than no weight. This was the 2nd vid I watched in a day that had a tripod knocked and cam damaged. A week ago or so I seen another one that had the same issue. But that involved an unexpected explosion that sent protective plexiglass and wood stud framing flying. It may not have helped

We're definitely considering a washer, but will likely hold off on a dryer from a power constraint standpoint.

Are those the names of a brand of Washer/Dryer? I wish we had more sponsors, but we've already purchased ~$16,000 in items for the bus all out of pocket, and another almost $10,000 on a machine for the shop that we had contacted several companies for a sponsorship and ultimately ended up purchasing one on our own. I'd be surprised if we end up using a sponsor at any part of the build.
