Converting an eight-foot Aermotor windmill tower into a ten-foot

The crew and I cut the stub tower off an 8ft motor tower to convert it into a 10ft stub tower and platform.

That’s hard labor, what a small platform to stand on. My 10 foot mill has a 2’ wide walk around platform. I can use a 6’ step ladder on it, to get up to the helmet. Nice video.

What is the deciding factor for switching from an 8ft to a 10ft mill ,or any size in general? P.s. love what y'all do

It mainly depends on how deep the well is. Anything over 100 ft people start considering 10 ft motors for the extra pull power and less wind to start spinning! Thank you, we really appreciate it!!

What was the reasoning for the conversion? Well deep enough to require the increase pump power?

The only reason we upgraded it was due to the 8ft motor going bad and the rancher happening to have a spare 10ft motor laying around

So, an 8 ft motor will handle a 10ft wheel? If so, then you needed to lower the platform, correct?

Sadly, no, what we did in this video was cut the stub tower off from the 8-foot motor and completely replace it with a 10-foot stub tower and motor, which is why the platform is lower on it!
