That’s hard labor, what a small platform to stand on. My 10 foot mill has a 2’ wide walk around platform. I can use a 6’ step ladder on it, to get up to the helmet. Nice video.

If I have 3 fins that are half broke on opposite sections. Am I able to replace that one fin? And keep the others ? Can't seem to find any videos pertained to my question. Thank you
@yourlocalwellmanАй бұрын
If you take the damaged sections off and grind and drive out the rivets on the damaged fin. You should be able to put a new fin on with bolts

Could you show us a little closer the piece you screw into the mast pipe before setting a head on, did you make it?
@yourlocalwellman2 ай бұрын
Yep, took a mass nut and welded a pipe on it, then rounded the end to make a point to help it get started as well as filled the middle so it wasn't hollow! I'll try and get a closer view of it in the next video!

Hello, i will be taking down an Aeromotor windmill in a few weeks. For taking the head off there is no pump attached. Only thing a guy has to do is take the cap off, and unscrew the nut, and hook up the crane? Are all Aeromotor windmills the same in taking apart. Any info is appreciated. Thank you
@yourlocalwellman3 ай бұрын
Hello! Yep, as long as there is no swivel rod attached to the motor, you should only have to take the mass nut out and pull it off. As far as I know, all Aermotor windmills should be the same when taking them apart!

@@yourlocalwellman Thank you. If I'm needing parts once I take it apart. Do you have any suggestions on to purchase from?

Well, that would depend on where you are based out of, I don't know a whole lot about parts on the sales part of things outside of nebraska!

You think I could weld a nut to a snapped vane spring mount to get it off?
@yourlocalwellman3 ай бұрын
I'm assuming you mean the part that sticks out of the base of the motor that you slip the spring onto from the tail. In that case, I don't see why that wouldn't work! I would try a pipe wrench on it. Probably would get it off, too!

What is the deciding factor for switching from an 8ft to a 10ft mill ,or any size in general? P.s. love what y'all do
@yourlocalwellman5 ай бұрын
It mainly depends on how deep the well is. Anything over 100 ft people start considering 10 ft motors for the extra pull power and less wind to start spinning! Thank you, we really appreciate it!!

Hey man. I had my cylinder replaced down hole (180feet of pipe) on my windmill powered water well on my property and still no water pumping out. Haven’t heard back from the guy that replaced. Wondered if you might have an idea. Thanks!
@yourlocalwellman6 ай бұрын
Well, my best bet with a new cylinder, especially that deep, would be that they didn't get the check seated quite all the way down, or the leathers haven't spread on the new plunger, I'd first try and pick up on it if you can and drop it on the bottom a time or two and then yank up on it fast to try and spread those leathers!
@donaldclinton11876 ай бұрын
Ok so just so we are on the same page. I would have to unhook the sucker rod from windmill and then hook up to the piping and drop it down a few times and yank it back up?
@yourlocalwellman6 ай бұрын
Yep, so make sure everything is disconnected from the windmill, and then let it drop onto bottom a couple of times to try and get the check seated down, then yank up as fast as you can to try and spread the leathers on the sides of the cylinder, might be tough to do by hand 180ft down depending if the leathers have already spread or not!

How much water daily in gallon's are you getting and how much gallons per minute douse it give approximately ?
@yourlocalwellman8 ай бұрын
That depends on a decent amount of variables, what size the check and plunger are, how deep the well is, and what motor head they have one but on average a 2 3/4 plunger can pump 3-5 gallons a minute on a good day

I have built windmills for nearly 60 years. If you wish to pump water, going forward, a Savonius VAWT can be mounted on a bypass single-post tower on an off-set bushed shaft with a terminating-end pointed thrust bearing, using a worm-and-down-gear crank AT GROUND LEVEL for peanuts ($) and you never have to climb another tower! I am currently building 100 such windmills, which compress air.
@WhatDadIsUpTo9 ай бұрын
I'm 75. I reinforced my tower base and welded on hinges and a counterweight to lower and raise my windmill tower by hand for maintenance. Also, if you would hinge your tailfeathers on a 45° slanted pivot, so it could rise on either side, you could get rid of that furling spring and lock, controllong furl by the amount of weight on the outboard end of the tail.
