In this video I’m converting my 75 gallon freshwater aquarium into saltwater. If you’re just now getting started into the saltwater hobby, this video is right on time. @@TheFishCorner I’m thinking about a 65 or a 75 gallon. Along time ago, ive became interested in salt water because I really wanted the clown fish and the store sold me a nano tank set. It wasn’t really the size I wanted cause it looked kinda goofy to me but they said it’s a good starter tank and then after a few weeks, it leaked 🤦‍♂️.!I gave up on it since. Now my interest is coming back.

I never comment but this has been one of the most informative helpful videos ever. I recently moved my Female jaguar to a 125 and now have a empty 75 with a FX6. I been wanting to get i to Saltwater but like you said all the typical Saltwater people make it an elite club and can only be done a certain way. My only question is what are you using in the FX6 as far as for the baskets and did u use existing media from a fresh tank or replace it. Much appreciated.

To be honest I just started this hobby this month with 10g tank but after watching your videos and the choice of fishes that I can put in 10g tank is not much so I kinda regret. I hope I I bought a bigger fish tank and climb from there. Next week I'm gonna put a pair of clownfish so excited. Love from Malaysia.

Hello, im jot sure what fish are available to buy where you live but you have quite a few options for a nano tank. I recently bought coral gobies in groups but you can buy candy cane gobies, some dwalf pipefish and numrous other fish which can be kept in 45-50 litres/10 gallon. Your not restricted to clown fish. Ideally i was told to plan what fish you want to keep and then purchase the tank. If you would like to know other nano salt water fish just let me know 😊 I love the salt water hobby and im sure you be an addict. Clown fish are good fish to keep.

I love this approach you have in all your videos, simple....simple really is best. I have had a 320 litres (85 gallon) tank sitting around that had freshwater fish in it for a while now. The thought of Marine scared the crap out of me. But not any more thanks to your videos. Respect from Australia. Also earned yourself a new subscriber. I am wondering can i still use the external canister filters i was using for freshwater (obviously i'll change out the media for fresh stuff)

Hello! 🤗 Just purchased a 100gal tank that was freshwater. What canister would you recommend besides the fx6? Im semi new....its been about 20yrs since ive had a saltwater tank. Just got my live sand and looking into rocks n deco as well as a live rock. Is there a canister that does most things needed like skim the foam? Any info is greatly appreciated. Been up late watching ur videos! 😂

Thank you for your support! As for the canister filter, the fx6 would definitely be the best choice. If not the fx6 then the fx4 could suffice. There’s no canister filter I know of that skim the water. You’d need a sump with an overflow box for that. Maybe a sump would be the best option for you, then you can also add a skimmer. 100 gallons is kinda big so your filtration has to be big as well. By the way, congrats on the new 100 gallon aquarium! That’s exciting! 😁

A small tank could run about 300w of electricity constantly, not counting the high usage hours with your lights. So 300w x KwH x (Your rate) on average could be about $30-60 a mo just on your heater and pump, then theres the water change per week so, expect about $100 a month for a decent tank.

Hey sir, how do you do maintanance on the cannisterfilter on the salt water tank? I'm a freshwater guy but after seeing this video I got confident. Could a skimmer be used with the combination of the cannister filter? Greetings from the Netherlands

What’s up bro, maintaining the canister filter on the saltwater tank is exactly the same as on a freshwater tank. Use tank water to clean the media and sponges, rinse the canister housing and put it all back together. You can and should use a skimmer In combination with the canister filter. Eventually after you’re confident enough to grab a sump, you will benefit from that as well.

Maintaining saltwater aquariums isn’t that different from freshwater aquariums unless you’re doing all high tech and automated equipment. That’s fine if you’re end goal is that but you don’t have to have or know about all those gadgets to get started and be able to enjoy the experience of keeping saltwater fish.
