Finally! Most reviewers compare LEDs in completely different hosts which tbh is pretty pointless. You have used the same hosts making your test completely valid. Well done for being the only reviewer I’ve found that gets this right!🙂

Great comparison vid once again, I found with an extension tube my GT nano out preformed my GT micro. Both are crazy throwers for their sizes.

For Osram LED I prefer CULPM1 because it has higher lumen than CSLNM1 and CSLPM1.

I prefer the hot spot size of the SFT40, just because I feel like you can see more. If someone was standing in the yard you could light up their whole body versus just their upper torso. That's just the impression I get and my opinion. I think the OSRAM would be fun, but for function I'd rather have the SFT40 all night.

Hi, thanks for the comparison. I own M21B lights with CULPM1 and with SFT40, this is the 21700 version of the M1. These batteries last longer and it has a better 8A (buck) driver, which is more efficient, regarding to TacGriz (look for "Which Convoy Lights Use Buck Drivers for 3V emitters?"). I prefer the SFT40 because of its beam and I use it with an OP reflector.

Awesome work once again. Definitely more usable light with the SFT40’s wider beam and just about the same throw. Just received the same M1 with the nm1. tg(W1). The thing out throws my M21B SFT40 because of the narrower more intense hotspot, just as you’ve shown. Also installed the newly available RGB tailswitch! The breathing rainbow effect is stunning. It’s super simple to install, pointy tweezers to back out the retaining ring is all it takes. With that switch installed it truly becomes an enthusiast light. EDIT: the RGB switch is also a battery power indicator! The colors will change gradients as voltage drops.

Congrats on your new m1 and rgb switch, I bet that switch looks awesome I will definitely order some on my next order, so there is no soldering needed, that was holding me back, I was assuming it needed soldering.

Nice little comparison. I have lights with he SFT40, the cslnm1 and the culpm1. Honestly , I like them all. The SFT40 is nice because it can throw well and also can crack 2000lm. I like the culpm1 a lot too, it makes close to the same amount of lumen, but will out throw the sft40 in the same flashlight at the same amps. The culpm1 is warmer tone thsan the SFT40 too, likr 5700k vs. 6500k. I do have the cslnm1 in my L21B and that thing is really like a LEP with a very light spill. I don't think it is very practical, but man it will throw far. I think it will hit 1400m. Honestly, I can't pick which one I like the best!

Man... with all these new convoy M1, M2, M21B's I've ordered with Osram LED's looking all the same, not sure which is which, so i ordered one of those simple Dymo Label printers (No Batteries) black labels white letters for black torches, clear labels for MAO torches, so i'll be able to print out what LED is in what light so i know which one im playing with... 🔦🔦🔦

SFT40 FTW! :) the M1 is an awesome host, but I've heard people question its water resistance IIRC..

Hey man, that SFT40 is a beast. Could you do a lux reading from 5 metres of both? That'd reveal which one throws further.

@@smotheredchrome I set my light meter 5m away, and point each light at it on turbo. Then compare the lux figures. The higher lux one throws further

Great videos as always! Just a quick question about batteries. I have a Q8 Pro and a Q8 Plus with plans to get more. My question is which batteries do you think are the best in terms of just performance (max lumens) and then which would be best for capacity (which last the longest) as I only have the standard sofirn 18650 (for the Q8 Pro) and 21700 (for the Q8 Plus). Thanks in advance and as always keep up the great work👍

Thank you my friend I appreciate your comment 🙏 For max Lumens Samsung 40t and molicel p42a will get you 2k to 4k extra lumens. When it comes to runtime you wanna look for the highest mah of your battery. IMHO the sofirn batteries are just fine, if you want that extra out of your light I definitely recommend the high performance batteries

Both the W1 and W2 will out-throw the SFT40. Just that with the W1, it's so low lumens that it just looks like the SFT is overpowering it by brute force. The M1 is nice if you need a smaller body, but the better host is probably the M21 or L21 for either emitter. Still, can't complain for something under $25.

@@smotheredchrome Maybe there should be some clarification first... Is this the Osram CULNM1 (Boost LX) or CSLNM1 (W1)? I should have clarified that in the smaller bezels/optics, the Osram Boost LX (CULNM1) and HX (CULPM1) will win the throw distance. In the Noctigon KR1, both the Osram Boosts outthrow the SFT40 by a fair margin (100K vs 70K candela). And I believe the KR1 is similar reflector size to the Convoy M1 here... As you get to larger heads, the SFT should close the gap. At their peak luminous output, they should throw similarly. Now if you're talking about the older CSLNM1 (W1) or CSLPM1 (W2), then that's a different story.

Yes mine came with extra tube for the bigger 26980 battery, they are both excellent lights if you have the extra money get the l8 and grab the l21a later
