I thought it would be a great idea to use my Christmas Charcuterie tree for our Cooking 101 this week. It’s so easy to do and super cool.
Supplies: A Styrofoam cone they make them in two sizes, and then you’ll need yellow and red tomatoes, sausage cut into fours, lunch meat if you want to and you can fold it into an accordion shape to put on. For cheeses I used mozzarella cheese, Colby Jack cubed cheese and Monterey Jack cubed cheese. Make sure when you use your fruits that they aren’t over right because they will squish and get juices all over your cone. I use large blue berries, green and red grapes are perfect, clementines I peel them separated them and then put a small blueberry on top, strawberries that aren’t too large mine were a little big this time, raspberries and blackberries if they’re not too ripe. Then I also used condiments like green and black olives which are perfect to use. You will need probably more than 1000 toothpicks depending on the size of a tree you want to do. Before you assemble your tree put all the toothaches into everything first and put it into Tupperware and then you can store it for as long as you want because if you start assembling your tree too soon the cheese gets hard and then the fruit gets warm and it’s kind of gross. So make sure you fridgerate everything before you put it onto the tree
Everybody loved the tree and there was only a couple yellow tomatoes left. It was a huge hit
You can also make it your own maybe you can do just a fruit Christmas tree or maybe just do veggies or you could just do cheeses and meats with olives. Just make it your own but just make sure that when you put your ingredients on your tree that you slowly turn your tree as you go so I would use a Lazy Susan would be great and make sure that you alternate colors so when you’re done you can see the different colors in your tree.
Thank you for being a part of another Cooking 101 class look out for after the holidays to return with my Kidz Korner with Mom Bell. I got sick so I was out for four days and I’m just kind of struggling getting going so I do apologize for that but we will get back on the ball after the holidays.
