@conservativemike3768
@conservativemike3768 3 жыл бұрын
@@30roundclipazine79 / it depends entirely on the situation and skill of installer. More often than not, old installs are done poorly, the location/spacing between surfaces is incorrect, the flanges is broken or not properly secured, the sub floor flexes due to poor construction or water damage. Nothing is simple, the technique is subtle, and if done badly then water finds a way... Bottom line: amateurs are dangerous. One bad install can flood and destroy your house in 10 minutes, so just spend the money and get your work done right by a reputable, licensed, and insured plumber.

I wonder if that mix of waxes would be suitable for wax-potting electric guitar pickups? I bet it would melt at close to the same temperature, and if not, a little beeswax or a little paraffin wax added will "adjust" the melt point down or up.

Also, if you want to get free flux for your lead. Just take a plastic bag with you to Home Depot/Lowes. Go to the back of the store where they cut lumber for customers (at the saw table). There's usually sawdust all around and a broom to gather it up. Just help yourself.

I went through this exercise several years ago, and like you, I was tired of paying an exorbitant amount for the name brands and the formulations available on fleabay left much to be desired. I used to work for a wax supplier, so this was a pretty easy task. My mix is the basic 50/50 beeswax and petroleum wax, but instead of using a paraffin based petroleum wax, I use a 160 degree F. melting point Microcrystalline wax. This gives a lube that has a tacky feel and is fairly soft, so it can be applied by hand, yet has a melting point that prevents it from running in hot weather. It also will not affect powder in any way. I have used it in my Lyman bullet sizing press as well as pan lubing.

Truly a versatile product crossing trades. As an apprentice cabinetmaker back in the 1960's I learned to keep a wax bowl ring on my bench to lube screws before insertion. Today's battery fired drill-drivers didn't exist back then and boy was that waxy ring a blister saver. I wonder what other trades have still other uses.

Kevin Breckenridge, find out what the safe maximum black powder load is and never go over it, I have a ruined brass framed Colt from over-loads. Also, never get distracted when loading. I under-loaded a cylinder once while yakking at the range and that led to a barrel obstruction and a barrel split from end to end. A '58 Remington 44 doesn't shoot very well with little or no powder.

I read that using wax rings, that are made to seal toilets, are not good for use in your expensive BP rifles and revolvers. Supposedly the wax isn't pure bees wax. And that it has acids from other ingredients that are corrosive to the barrels of BP guns. Like I said it's something I read. Make of it what you will.

It's a great feeling to find something cheaper and does exactly what the more expensive item does. Every weekend when we would go out on our boat and spend the weekend on the water we would come back with a brown stain completely around the boat. By the way this is the Chesapeake Bay I'm speaking of. I was using this stuff that was almost $30 a bottle that you mixed up into a bucket of water. It really did not seem to work so I googled it. Come to find out if you go to the dollar store and buy toilet bowl cleaner you get a bottle that's about 10 to 12 oz and it's only a dollar. I bought one to test it and sure enough it works better than the name brand and only cost a dollar. We went back down there and cleaned the shelf out of the cleaner and hit the other dollar store a little further away and clean them out. That's one thing I like about the internet is people like yourself and others that share good information for everyone. Thank you for putting this video up. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New year.

I found (after lots of hunting!) and MSDS on this stuff. I found it so close to Alox to be about indistinguishable. I still gotta find the right ratio for my 45/45/10. I use mineral spirits to help break it down. I did do the parrafin also. When its mixed, it takes a long time to set up and is still sorta sticky. On my 45 acp, this stuff flat works! Zero leading!
