Clever! Hadn't thought of that. The end caps that come with the Coolaroo shades are *very* difficult to remove.

Yes they are. I have not been successful, I am breaking them. How did you do it?

@@HansZaepfel My notes say: END CAPS: "This time, the end cap (replaced once previously) wasn't so long (see pics), and it was easy to (patiently to avoid breakage) just lightly tap it out of the pole. As indicated in a pic, the pole has internal lengthwise ~tabs, and this explains WHY I COULD NOT REMOVE THE END CAP BY TWISTING IT WITH PLIERS."
