@@CoolClassics You're welcome. I note you have many more videos of my old tv favorites, and I will be sure to watch them as able. I actually have the batman theme as my ring tone on cell phone. :) And F Troop, The Munsters, Beverley Hillbillies, Gilligan's Island, Hogan's Heroes, Bewitched, I Dream of Genie, Happy Days were all staples before dinner after school in the 60s and early 70s. They provided a lot of laughs to my parents and brothers, and contributed to a happy home environment. The humor was so good, and unfortunately there is nothing similar today. Thanks again for your efforts to honor this phase of Hollywood.

Being born in 71, I was lucky to have all of the 60s shows on constant rerun. F Troop and the Munsters were always my favorites, Later on it became Hogan's Heroes. But all of the 60s shows are just great! The 70's and early 80s had some awesome show too:)

I met Adam West probably six times while working for Alaska Airlines in Portland, Oregon. At the time he was living in Idaho and would fly into Portland from Boise to transfer to a flight to Burbank. On our first meeting, I stopped Adam and asked for a moment of his time. He said, “Of course, I always have time for my fans.” I believe that Adam West loved his fans as much as we loved him. We ended up talking for about ten minutes, and I mentioned when I was a child, my father and I would watch his westerns and Batman episodes whenever they were on the TV. Adam asked if my father was still around, and I told him my father was working down the street at Leatherman Tool. Adam gave me the date and time he would be returning to Portland airport, and told me to tell my dad to “play a little hooky”. Later on that week, Adam West returned as he stated, and my father was able to meet one of his favorite stars. From time to time, I would see Adam passing through the Portland airport. A few times he would waive at me and ask how dear old dad was doing. Adam was a real down to earth and friendly guy who truly appreciated his fan.

Adam West had a voice that was perfectly suited to his role in Batman. There was just something tongue-in-cheek about his delivery, a natural inflection that added a comedic edge to an otherwise straightforward line. Leslie Nielson had that same quality. Both Neilson and West began as serious actors until their unique comedic talents were recognized.

Well said! He was well versed in the theatre of the absurd (as he mentioned in the DVD commentary). In particular, the way he says 'Catwoman' in one scene in the movie is just perfect, uniquely brilliant *and* funny. It sounds like 'cat-whuman'!

As a child in the late 60's and early 70's I watched Batman and couldn't stand to miss an episode. And down to the present I always get a great kick out of watching old reruns of westerns etc and catching a glimpse of AW. His signature voice is unmistakable and I think added to the comic absurdity of Batman. How could you not know Batman was Bruce Wayne 🤔😆?

Bravo! This was just tremendous! Just an awesome job on Adam's career and life. I picked up Adam at LAX in '86 with the Sheraton's Limo. Met him at the gate with a sign, he walked up to me in sweats, cap and sunglasses and said; lets go - I hesitated because he looked nothing like I remembered 20 years ago, but it was HIS voice. Spent 40 wonderful minutes driving him to the hotel, he was such a great guy, so cool and down to earth. It was a stretch limo, and he sat in the seat right behind me so we could talk easier. Of course I told him I watched every episode of Batman and was a huge fan as a kid. When we got to the hotel he asked me to come up to his room and hang-out!! I was floored, but I felt I could not, as I was on limo duty at the hotel, but I should have just asked my boss, now looking back, that would have been awesome to have heard some stories! Makes me sad every time I think of it, that I didn't just visit for a while. It was still a great experience I'll never forget - being friends with Adam for 40 mins. Thanks for letting me share this story...

When I was young my mother let me know that I was a burden on her and that her life would have been much different if I hadn't been born. So, I know exactly how this feels. I am amazed that he was able to be so self confident and achieve so much. It really messes with your self confidence and personal drive when not even your mother wanted you around. He must have been a really strong, driven man.

I am sorry to hear about how his mother had treated him and how he was exposed to fornication. But I forgive him deeply because we are all human and none of us is perfect. Thanks for a well-done video of Adam West ! The Batman Series in the mid-60’s was a must see at home every week and I made sure to be around when the show was broadcast ,... because the show was the talk of the office the next morning ! The scripts were terrific with lots of hidden and double entendre humor. In one episode Batman and Robin walk into a nightclub drawing the amazement of everyone dancing. When the waiter asks if they’d like a table, Batman calmly says , “no thank you, we wouldn’t want to attract any attention.” (!) R.I.P. Adam West ✝️

Isn't that the truth. To a child especially words can hurt beyond the measure. It has actually destroyed some people's lives. I'm glad for him that perhaps it made him work hard but hopefully it did it for himself and not to try to win the approval of a mother who obviously had serious issues. I think his father was pretty damn nice. I'm very glad that his father was able to find a wife who could love him and Adam. She must have been a very loving lady. @@williamanderson5437 In season one, of Batman: The Animated Series, there was an episode titled, "Beware the Gray Ghost" (I should have mentioned the episode' title in my first comment). I just looked up the show you referenced and besides the title/name of the lead character, there appears to be no other connection. The Gray Ghost that Adam West voiced, owes more to one of Batman's spiritual forebearer, The Shadow, of pulp novels and radio fame. If superheroes aren't your thing, but you make the exception with the 60's Batman show, "Beware The Gray Ghost" is an absolute must see. On another note, thank you Cool Classics, for making this documentary. I know I came off as unappreciative, but there was more about West' career that deserve acknowledgement.

Even when facing such humiliation as working in a circus and being shot out of a cannon in a Batman costume ! Impressive. Many people would have given up and succumbed to drink and depression. He was a true superhero.

What a life. Grew up on a ranch, moved into a castle house, worked as a milk truck driver, local radio announcer, the military, lived on the beech then worked up a long ladder through Hollywood with its highs and lows, but in the end seemed to close it all out being happy. It's a shame his mother was so self absorbed.

Instead of just giving up, retiring and fading from the spotlight, he kept his star shining bright, even if it did dim a little sometimes. He had a lot of stamina back in the day it seems, as well lol! Thank you for another awesome video CC! ❤️🙏❤️

This is a great celebration of a unique 'one off'. Fantastic to see his resurgence as a voice over artist. Indeed, he had a very special voice. As a kid in The UK, his Batman series was repeated ad nauseum in the 70's/ 80's. We loved it. He deserves all the credit for making Batman a permanent fixture in popular culture. He really invented the character and that style of using witty one liners. You see it in most of the Bond films too.

It was somewhere in the mid-1980s when I met him at 1 a.m. in an Albertson's grocery store in Amarillo, Texas. My sister, brother, and I were shopping after our night working the bar and I came down one aisle and there stood Adam West. By this time I wasn't shy of "big stars" anymore, having been doing the science fiction/fantasy conventions since 1979 and having met a whole lot of people (I was always staff in those days so I got to meet a lot of people). I went up to him, said hi, welcomed him to my hometown. He was doing the dinner theater there and had just finished his show and the meet/greet afterward. We did small talk for a bit, then I said goodnight and wandered back to my siblings. He was a nice guy, a little gruff that night but I figure it was due to being tired.

Adam West was part of my childhood. In the 60’s, I remember running to our little black and white tv set to watch Batman. I was such a good little girl because if I was bad, my parents wouldn’t let me watch Batman. Driving around Houston, I could look out the car window and see the Batmobile parked at the channel 39 tv station. I always thought he was there! I always loved Batman!

I met Adam West at a cable TV convention when the Batman TV series was on TV in syndication. At most of these types of appearances, the stars have handlers where you pay for an autograph and if you get to talk to the star it's just a quick "Hello". Adam was by himself and very happy to talk as long as you wanted. He was the only one I ever saw with a genuine appreciation for his fans.

Excellent video biography of Adam West's life. So glad he was able to weather the storms to end up in the sunshine. 🌞 It's a crying shame his mother was so self-absorbed and seeking fame all her life, but ultimately, it made him who he was. I can't believe the cruelty of her verbalizing how she resented her pregnancy and blamed it on him, and then when she was jealous of her own son's success is the icing on the cake. What a bitter woman. She could have probably immersed herself in his Hollywood lifestyle if she had embraced him, but no.

Adam West was certainly a great talented actor and even more a kind hearted gentleman. I was blessed to have worked with him on my first television series as a new actor called “Danger Theatre” on FoxTV in the early 90s. Unfortunately it only lasted 12 episodes before being cancelled. The experience to work with one of my childhood favorite actors especially him being Batman was a true blessing and honor. Thank you for this video about a special person in Adam West.
