*These are the settings I used for my Anycubic Mega X 3D Printer with White PLA. These settings are not going to work with every printer, or every PLA. Printers have different length bodin tubes, and PLA’s have different melting points. These may not work exactly for you, but should give you a good base to start with if you have a similar size printer. Good luck!

this is an ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE product/item. I’m literally looking at 3D printers now after avoiding them for about a decade just for this bird(and the eventual cool stuff to follow). You should do a basic 5-10 minute intro/overview of the plane; both to get the plans out to the people but also get people not even currently interested in the hobby watching the video because this has viral potential. Keep it simple and brief; an intro to the whole thing, a quick montage of the print, build and paint, then a final fly with some* onboard footage but more line of sight, and see if you can get a camera with a telephoto lens, even borrow one for the shoot. Get a thumbnail that pops too.

This is a literal dream of mine, the foam ones for sale don’t do birds justice. This absolutely takes my breath away, and your girl did a bang up job on the paint/plumage. I just wanted to make a note in this video in the hopes that you see it, but in the previous video towards the end you were talking about having the flaperons mixed in with the elevator, but the way you described it and the way it looked in the video you had the mix *reversed*. When pulling back on the stick, causing the elevator to raise, the flaperons should droop slightly, increasing lift. This will add to the lift generated from the increased angle of attack caused by the elevators manipulation of the airframe. In the video you had the flaperons, or ailerons, lifting up, almost like reflex, which would decrease lift, counteracting the very purpose of the elevator and pulling back on the stick.

With the eagle shown in this video, it works differently. If you look from the side, the axes of rotation of the ailerons and elevator are quite close to each other. The elevator-aileron-mix "extends" the elevator, so to say. If they were to deflect in the opposite direction, this would act like a crow mix and brakes the bird. ;)

Great looking plane! I would move my battery ever so slightly backwards or add up trim. It's also quite capable of slying slowly.. so the landings could be so much more controlled.

Priceless onboard video at 0:52 .. looks like the bird just carrying some grub in its beak. This project is amazing! To deal with the pitch-up tendency with throttle like with first launch, you could set up a mix on elevator with throttle. Alternatively you could add elevator mix on switch (low, high power, or glide). BTW: ColorFabb has a sale on right now, including new colors.

Great follow-up video, a sound module and speaker install would give that final realistic feel. Watching the two birds give chase shows just how real the model looks to the impressive bird of pray. Your wife did an impressive job with the paint work, did you have to use lacquer to coat the paint?

I'm currently speculating if it was possible to make it twin engine without disturbing the bird shape too much. That would free up the head for FPV gear and could potentially make a very natural looking UAV...

This type of plane nicely demonstrates the unique capabilities of 3D printers. There is no way this could be done as well using conventional building techniques.

Would a pop out air brake on bottom both help with landing and keep wings from hitting ground so hard? Thinking like a single spring landing point without a wheel.

There's a pair of red shouldered hawks that has a nest in a giant oak tree next to our place in central California, they regularly perch on top of our barn. I wonder what would happen if I flew this guy around!

Hi Troy, I have a friend who built the Eagle for me last year but unfortunately I haven't maidened it yet. I'm having great difficultysetting it up on my Spektrum Dx6 Gen 2 transmitter. I see you fly your model with a Spektrum TX. Would you be able to tell me what I need to do to programme the Eagle on my Dx6? Cheers, Phillip Christchurch NZ.

Hello. a consultation, about a month ago my friend and I bought the plans. everything was fine until when he entered the CURA program. when I put segmentation. fills only the empty part and the part that should be filled leaves it empty. In conclusion it prints it backwards. I would like to know if someone could help me please

I would double check your settings with the plane print tab, and make sure you are setting it to surface mode under special modes
