This is the Quake3 Grand-Final of the ESWC 2003 Tournament.
The finalists are Anton "Cooller" Singov (RUS) and John "ZeRo4" Hill (USA).
The Game is Quake3 + the OSP competition mod, with a BO3 (Best of 3) format.
This video features all the maps played in this Grand-Final, with changing POVs to see all frags.
Note: I had to use a extremely lagy spec demo of Cooller from the second map. Because his actual demo of that map is missing. Sorry if the movement is weird and the action is a bit choppy.

pretty crazy how far quake games go back, especially Q3A. I started playing Quake with Quake Live, and I very rarely ever touched any other Quake games. This match up pretty much proves that the game was always great... I mean I was in my first year of middle school when this match was played :o

@@oliverl89 I still haven't tried it! But you're not the first person I've heard say that. Some people consider me old (38) so I'm old enough to have played the original _Quake World_ when it came out, but I was stuck on console in a family without Internet.

I remember how Cooler appears in q3. A very yong extreme talented prospect start to take local events one by one, and rips apart pro q3 comunity in russia. In that time you able to do nice money by cybersport. CPL, WCG, and other sponsored leagues provide good prises... He have difficulties to get there cuz of young age.

I remember back around 2000 when my buddy and I would dominate local LAN tournaments in Q3A. My friend was better than me, and went to a regional tournament where he got wrecked by some kid named "Zero4". This was just as he was rising to dominance. I believe he went on to the national tournament, and lost to some other player, who then lost to FatalIty. We were in awe of how badly my friend lost to this guy who was two levels down (by our perception) at the next level tournament. But it turns out he was one of best to ever do it.

Where are todays equivalents to these old arena shooters? I have yet to find a decent one, that can offer even 10% of what the early Quakes delivered. :(

these games are way too intense and stressful on the adrenal glands and kidneys for anyone to bother maintaining a professional level of skill over a long period of time. they all get burned out

Карта как мне кажется вообще без баланса. Рельса рулит жёстко, к тому же смотря как антон даже не попадал по 4 рельсы подряд, явно аим стал лучше теперь, и тот, кто возьмёт рельсу первым, просто разорвёт любого, в кваке 3 из более менее мне лично blood run и aero walk нравятся, но так же есть много других сложных карт, в отличие от этой. Я вообще с первой кваки играю, во вторую много играл, не могу сказать , что классно получалось, но всё же мнение сложилось

ioquake with texture packs apparently. dunno the specific settings, but I recognize those custom textures.

back in 2003 u could afford a house new pc and car with that price money, i want the old times back when competitive was in its early stage. i loved that time so much :)

Damn 15 years ago i used a mouse , with the death of q3 and release of quake live i never used to play any other games , I wish ppl still play this ... I would buy a PC directly

@Halil Baba I was a lil kid playing these games at my dad's house. In the garage cuz my stepmom hated me lmao these games was a straight escape back in the day. Ima have to redownload some day & hop on I still have it installed on my PC from my dad just need to find the disc. Lol Once I do let's get some games in g?

I explained that in the video description. I had to use a spectator demo because the actual Cooller ztn demo is missing. It was recorded by a spectator with a very high ping, but its better then nothing.

Зерыч может что угодно говорить о своей крутизне и о том, как он придумывал играть в quake, что до него и тактики никакой не было. А Антон просто классом выше. Игрок новой волны указал деду его место.

Больше всего о уровне ЧСВ Зеро4 говорит сообщение в конце DM6- "lucky". Лол, как будто просто одна удача может заролять настолько, что бы был такой отрыв по фрагам.

T4 pro Отличная карта, жаль она выпала из мап пула последнего сезона QL. Но все же я считаю, что Cooller лучший игрок в Quake 3 : Arena, а Cypher лучший в QL, под занавес приплыл Rapha закрыв тройку. Но вообще я по своему опыту знаю, что есть игроки которые могли быть лучшими, но учитывая жизненную позицию не смогли показать общественности себя во всей красе. И еще хочу добавить, что модификации типа Counter-Strike, Dota2, QC привели к дауншифтингу ( software degradation ) киберспорта и Quake потерял огромное количество потенциальных пользователей

По QC уже завтра (23-25.04.21) финал 2 этапа 2021 г., есть вариант изменить мнение). Может Антон тряхнёт стариной и покажет игру)

@@user-dr3wo2rj2u Я очень плох в кваке, у меня безнадежный аим и мне 35 лет ^^. Если было бы 16 - 20 лет, то точно бы посмотрел, если бы это был не Quake4 и не QC

Рафа круче куллера. Выдержка у него что надо. А Антон вечно на расслабоне и в итоге в решающий момент собраться не может. Как итог проигрыш.
