I have to agree with you that the STT PROs dig in the clay mud, it's like driving on black ice. But they are tough as nails.

Do you still have the Coopers STT pros on the truck? Is this truck an off road toy only or does it spend time on pavement too? Thinking about getting either Ko2s or the STT pros on my 03 cat eye Silverado Z71, right now I have Ironman all country M/T(have had them on for almost 2 years now, not sure of mileage on them) and they’re wearing a good bit now, it’s my daily but I do a good bit of off-roading occasionally, so just curious if you or anyone else on here have had the coopers STT pros last them a good while or so, or if it would be better to go with the Ko2s?

How have the stt pros held up since posting this? Any new info? I'm looking into these 2 and the km3s
@RyanNash20 Жыл бұрын
Have stt pros on my xj, and k02s on my 1st gen tacoma. Coopers seem to grab better, but the k02s are way quieter on the highway. Maybe its just the lightweight of my tacoma, but i agree with the k02s not doing well in rain. If anyone has ever driven a 3.4 5speed tacoma they know these trucks are gutless, and I still accidentally break the tires loose taking off on wet pavement. Coopers are better for your offroad toys, but might as well go with a M/T with how loud they are anyway. K02s are great for your daily driver that you take offroad sometimes. Both tires have worn excellent for me.

Hmmm... I’m debating on these are go with toyo At3 .. I don’t go missing.. I just like the looks

Can't help you there because I've never drove on AT3s. I just know the Stts are awesome.

many 33x12.5 are not 33's on specs....most cases 285/65/18s are taller. have the stt pro run 12psi on beach sand.....no issues with bead or ride issues? 25,000 about 75% worn....trail grapplers next
@TheSmittysGarage2 жыл бұрын
My wheels and they being 18s don't hold bead well but that's not the tires fault. They were cheap wheels and knew I was going to destroy them. The ride is good as long as you make sure the weights haven't fallen off from wheeling.

These are two different size tires so yes there is.

If you can ask that question on a KZfaq video, you can look up the info on the manufacturers’ websites.

If you are trailrunning on a Pmetric you are begging for trouble. The Pmetrics don't have the sidewall strength or heat tolerance. Pmetric are made for minivans and soccermom SUVs. Also don't tow or haul heavy loads on Pmetric. Yes, the book says they have similar load capacity, but I can tell you from experience that P tires can't do anything but travel onroad.

Nicely done, mate. I’ll say that neither Cooper nor BFG will let you down. They’re both extraordinary companies who make fantastic tires. For years now, I have been taking very long, multi-country overland trips, and I really only trust these two companies when it comes performance, durability and safety. I’m sorry you experienced dry rot on two of the BFG’s you purchased. I’ve had three sets with cumulative mileage of just over 150,000 miles and have never experienced dry rot that I can remember on the BFG’s. We live out in Malibu, CA, on 96 acres that must be cleared prior to fire season each year, so I’m off-road every day. I’ve even had dry grass puncture the sidewall of the BFG’s (damn that prairie grass!), and zero air escaped!! I truly thought I had ruined a tire that morning, but I lucked out. But driving towards my point, I was most surprised to hear you had hydroplaning issues with yours. Granted, I drive a Land Cruiser (full time 4wd), but even my third generation 4Runner never felt out of control in even the heaviest rains while up in NorCal. Perhaps it was just luck of the draw in your case? Regardless, I hope you never have that terrifying experience with your new tires. Have a great one, and keep on pursuing the video career. Best of luck.

It's pretty common complaint but overall they are a good tire for the value. They are also good period correct tire. I'm stuck to my Coopers now until they quit offering them. They are also made in the USA.

you said nothing could punture the Discovery...did you go through nails before? My Nitto went through several nails and never got a flat. I used them on all streets and highway miles,so far i have about 55,000 miles on them and think i could make it to a few thousand more. But dont want to take the chance. I will get this discovery as one thing i look for is a tire that can make it through nails specialy in Texas freeways where there is always construction,construction,construction.
@TheSmittysGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yeah like I'm intentionally going drive over a bunch of nails on purpose. Don't take it literally, I'm referring to off-road trail abuse. Yes I've owned 10 ply tires that will break a nail or screw but I haven't ran into that situation yet with the Coopers.

Do the stt pros flatten out good for like the sand and do they look pretty aggressive in person?
@TheSmittysGarage3 жыл бұрын
They are really aggressive and are quiet for a mud tire. I don't use them on sand and if I was I would rather use an all terrain tire. These tires are meant to dig and that's not what you want for sand. I also don't air down in the sand because it's doesn't help.
@robertlawson11843 жыл бұрын
I just did soem fine soft deep sand runs. The stt are tooo darn aggressive! They dig like mad. You will just sink in and get high centered. I highly reccomend airing down to 10-16 psi to prevent digging. Mudding is amazing.
@fike3012 жыл бұрын
I run my stt pros at 12 psi in beach sand 4lo....no bead locks, thats not jumping dunes, donuts etc. with 12psi drive past others stuck....zero issues. 18-20psi....dig terrible soft sand. Cape Hatteras ramp 44,,49, souh point on Ocracoke 2018 Z71

I’ll be running 285/70/17’s but the STT Pro’s are 33.03 unlike the K02’s that are 32.7
@TheSmittysGarage2 жыл бұрын
Those differences are irrelevent unless you're in a pissing contest. The reason the pros are taller is because of the tread depth.
@lonesomecricket77212 жыл бұрын
@@TheSmittysGarage I only made the comment because when you tell people that I tell people that I am running a 33 I have been told “well you got 285/70/17 that’s a 32” Anyway I don’t care myself. As they wear they will shrink anyway. 🙂
