I hiked the north side of Cootes Paradise Sanctuary (part of the Royal Botanical Gardens Arboretum) for this video, and I will also have a video for the south side.
I got here early in the morning and spent a wonderful few hours exploring these beautiful trails: along the water, through the marsh, and through the forest and RBG Arboretum. All the intersections are well-marked, and the trails are quite hilly.
There are boardwalks, small bridges, and lookout platforms at the water and also higher up the hill. I love the lookout platform in the marsh.
I found the perfect place to eat the breakfast I brought - just a short walk from the Nature Centre down the hill on the anishinaabe waadiziwin trail.
It did get busy there, but I love seeing so many people enjoying being outdoors. I talked to some friendly regulars who gave me some trail advice, as well as some black sunflower seeds for the birds. It's the first time a nuthatch has landed on my hand.
I think I'll go back to see this area in lush green in the summer.
