If your children are being treated poorly by your narcissistic ex my suggestion is to get them into therapy. Read books by Gabor Mate, a psychologist who teaches about the consequences of childhood trauma. In his work, he teaches that as long as a child has one consistent parent who can attune themselves to the needs of the child they are capable of growing up into healthy adults. That parent must be you.

Thank you for this candid video. I wonder if you have any insights on how to reparent a child who was exposed to dysfunctional parental behaviour? I was raised by a narcissistic mother, as was my husband. We are both on a conscious journey of healing so things have significantly changed for the better between us. Even so, our 11yo son was exposed to a lot of dysfunction and while he is aware that things are different now, reparenting strategies would be valuable.

that is amazing I am so happy for you! my suggestion is to be completely open and honest with your son and include him in on it, don't separate him from the conversation of what happened and what you're trying to do now. have that conversation with him. acknowledge what happened. tell him how you were hurt and how that impacted you and your parenting. explain to him that you recognize how that might have affected him. tell him what you are trying to do now and in the future. explain to him what you think is important for him to know. apologize and tell him you love him and there is nothing more than you wanting him to feel safe. hug him often. encourage him. I have an inner child meditation on my channel. search Monica Yearwood inner child meditation and it will come up. do that meditation. give him what you did not receive when you were a child. I can't express enough how proud I am of you. what a healing and monumental step! always encourage, acknowledge, and support the things you see that he is doing.
